Last week, we saw a conversation take off on social media about a lawsuit with a bunch of false claims that was filed against us in 2021. We are actively working to improve the food system and our practices speak for themselves, but we had to set the record straight. The conversation started on TikTok and Instagram. We got some pointed questions, like people asking if our hens really are pasture-raised (they are), if we’re being sued by PETA (we aren’t), and if we can really maintain our standards across over 350 family farms (we can, thanks to our incredible family farmers, dedicated farm support team and third-party certifications). We posted the video below to answer the most commonly asked questions from the past week, and the response has been overwhelming. If you’ve got questions about our standards, our commitment to ethical food and challenging the factory food system in this country, let us know. We know there’s a bunch of bullshit out there in the food system. We understand why consumers are skeptical. And we stand by our commitment to being Bullshit Free. Yesterday, the Vital Farms Women's Mentorship Program closed its first cohort with an inspiring conversation between Jacquelyn Fletcher Johnson, MFA and Amy H., where they spoke about their experiences with networking and mentorship throughout their careers. Our Women's Mentorship Program is designed to create a community of women who support, empower, and learn from each other. Over the past 6 months, over 40 participants embarked on a journey to amplify their voices, be their authentic selves, cultivate confidence, and navigate challenges together, resulting in powerful cross-functional connections, friends, and supporters. Thank you, Jacque and Amy, for sharing your stories and wisdom with us, and congratulations to all the women who completed the 2024 mentorship program led by Shannon Van Dyck, Emily Love, and Joanne Bal.
