VITAL and Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) are seeking transformative approaches to enhance the delivery, biodistribution, and durability of long-acting monoclonal antibody and/or nucleic acid-based platforms for PrEP against seasonal and pandemic influenza, as well as other respiratory viruses. The winners of the BARDA VITAL Prize Challenge have been announced! Drumroll, please! 🥁 Cutanos GmbH clinched the top prize of $20,000. Avocet Bio GmbH Bio followed closely with a $15,000 prize. Sensible Biotechnologies secured third place with $10,000. All finalists, including mbiomics GmbH, MucosaTec, NewCo by Grant Knappe, new/era/mabs, Sensible Biotechnologies, and Silica Corpora, presented their groundbreaking solutions for pandemic preparedness at the BARDA VITAL Global Health Security Symposium in Berlin. The symposium was a resounding success, bringing together leading experts, researchers, and professionals from both sides of the Atlantic to discuss the latest advancements in pandemic preparedness and response. Highlights Included: ✨ An inspiring kickoff with welcome remarks by Dr. Doris Meder, followed by valuable insights into the activities of Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) from Mary Larkin, PhD and Rachel Rath. Their words set the stage for an engaging and informative event.   ✨ Visionary keynotes by esteemed speakers Oliver Morgan, PhD, Prof. Leif Erik Sander, MD, PhD, Hocine W. Mankouri, PhD, and Jano Costard, PhD offered a glimpse into future pandemic preparedness and countermeasures. ✨ An insightful panel on “Investing in Medical Countermeasures Globally,” featuring Bangin Brim, Christina Hertel Reinke, PhD, Holger Reithinger, PhD, and Ashim Subedee, PhD, moderated by Annika Pierson. ✨ Finally, the BARDA VITAL Prize Challenge finalists took the stage. The judges had the tough job of selecting the winners from a pool of incredible finalists.
