Climate change is causing extreme weather events to happen more often, leading to damaged crops and shortened food supplies around the world. With hunger on the rise, so is the global threat of malnutrition—impacting pregnant women and children the hardest.

About us
Founded in 1994, Vitamin Angels is a public health nonprofit working to improve nutrition and health outcomes in low-resource settings worldwide. We strengthen, extend, and amplify the impact of our partner organizations working to reach the most nutritionally vulnerable groups – pregnant women, infants, and children – who are underserved by existing systems. We do this by delivering evidence-based interventions and offering technical assistance, including ongoing monitoring and evaluation, to ensure program quality, scale, and impact. Vitamin Angels works with over 1,200 local organizations, including governments, to reach more than 72 million women and children in nearly 65 countries annually. Both Charity Navigator and GuideStar give Vitamin Angels their highest marks for financial transparency. To learn more, visit: www.vitaminangels.org.

We’re honored that Vitamin Angels was chosen to participate in the “Suns Assist” program for the 2024 Connecticut Sun season, presented by Walgreens the “Official Retail Wellness” partner. Last week in Connecticut, our team had a fantastic time meeting new faces and playing Pop-A-Shot with fans! It was also a privilege for Scott Minger, Chief Development Officer of Vitamin Angels, to share the court during the check presentation ceremony with Tracey D. Brown, EVP, President, and Chief Customer Officer of Walgreens, and Morgan Tuck-Sawi, Assistant General Manager and Director of Franchise Development at Connecticut Sun. A huge thank you to Walgreens and the Connecticut Sun for their support in helping us provide essential nutrition to women and children everywhere. Wishing the Connecticut Sun the best of luck in the WNBA playoffs!

Taking care of a mother's nutrition during pregnancy is essential for ensuring a healthy pregnancy, a safe delivery, and long-term health benefits for both the mother and the child. Anemia, primarily caused by iron deficiency, is quite common among expecting mothers, affecting one in two pregnant women aged 15-49 years in India, according to the National Family Health Survey 5. Here’s Bajre Ka Raab recipe, a traditional dish from Rajasthan, that’s great for pregnant women thanks to the iron-rich properties of bajra (pearl millet), which help prevent #anemia and promote healthy blood circulation. This nutritious dish is also a good source of magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and calcium, all of which are essential for the wellbeing of both the mother and the developing baby. Additionally, Bajre Ka Raab provides vitamin D to aid calcium absorption, and vitamin B12, which helps convert glucose into energy. Its high protein and fiber content also give a feeling of satiety, aiding in weight management. Incorporate this dish — especially brought to you as part of our Poshan Power: #HealthyPlatesOfIndia campaign for Poshan Maah 2024 — into your diet to support overall maternal health and ensure the necessary nutrients are provided during #pregnancy. Join us in making healthier #food choices and support our mission to improve #nutrition across the country. Together, we can make a real impact. . . . . #PoshanMaah2024 #PoshanMaah #SwadAnusar #SahiPoshanDeshRoshan #campaign #recipe #RecipesOfIndia #PoshanAbhiyaan #Poshan #India #IndigenousFoods #HealthForAll #health #malnutrition #nutrition
