🌟 A New Chapter in the Sjögren’s Journey 🌟 The power of words cannot be overstated, especially in healthcare. Recently, the international Sjögren’s community embraced a significant shift, moving from the term “Sjögren’s Syndrome” to “Sjögren’s Disease.” This change marks an important milestone in raising awareness of the condition’s severity and complexity. For many, the term “syndrome” often feels dismissive, undermining the challenges that come with this chronic illness. By adopting "disease," the community seeks to foster greater recognition and understanding of the impact Sjögren's has on daily life, while pushing for more focused research and better care. At ViuHealth, we stand with this community as they lead this critical change, and we’re committed to helping providers and patients alike by offering personalized autoimmune care that meets their unique needs. Let’s continue to advocate for patient empowerment and meaningful dialogue within healthcare. #SjögrensDisease #AutoimmuneCare #ChronicIllnessAwareness #PatientAdvocacy #ViuHealth

Research shows that 55% of employee burnout is due to poor work-life balance. How can the Stanford Model of Professional Fulfillment help medical practices address this and improve provider well-being? 🌿 Culture of Wellness A supportive work environment starts with leadership and company-wide dedication to staff well-being. Key elements include: • Leadership Support: Clinic leaders scheduling regular wellness check-ins with staff and promoting mental health resources • Resources of Wellness: Offering access to mental health services, fitness programs, or even relaxation rooms for staff. Lunch shouldn’t be the only break time at the office. • Recognition: Monthly shout-outs for team members who go above and beyond, boosting morale and acknowledgment ⚙️ Efficiency of Practice Streamlining administrative tasks allows providers to focus on patient care. Key strategies could be: • Redesigning Workflows: Involving doctors in reshaping inefficient EHR processes to make documentation faster and less stressful • Improving EHR Systems: Using modifications like voice-to-text transcription to reduce the time physicians spend typing notes • Teamwork Models: Implementing cross-functional teams where nurses, PAs, and doctors work closely to share tasks like patient updates and paperwork. Find a system that works best with the entire team 💪 Personal Resilience: While the organization plays a large role, personal resilience matters too. Examples of support include: • Self-Care Resources: Offering workshops on stress management and mindfulness, plus regular mental health days • Health Promotion: Providing fitness classes or discounted gym memberships to encourage physical activity • Life Needs Services: Offering benefit programs that have childcare, elder care assistance, or after-hours meal programs to reduce stress outside of work. The Stanford Model shows that provider well-being requires shared effort. By focusing on these areas, practices can create a healthier environment where all providers feel supported and valued.

⚠️ Provider burnout is a serious issue that affects not only physicians but the entire healthcare system. Here's what we know: • 😓42% of physicians report feeling burned out • 🧠30% of burned-out physicians experience symptoms of clinical depression • ⚖️55% cite work-life balance as a top contributor to burnout • 💸 The cost to replace a burned-out physician can reach up to $1 million • ⚕️ Burnout leads to a 50% increase in medical errors and a 25-35% drop in patient satisfaction It’s clear we need to address the root causes, like overloaded workflows and lack of work-life balance. Streamlining processes and reducing administrative burdens are key steps in tackling burnout. Here are 3 things that can be done to help combat physician burnout: 🔧Streamline the Workload, Save the Care: Physicians should largely focus on patient care, not administrative tasks. Reducing non-essential duties like paperwork and scheduling allows doctors to use their specialized skills where they’re needed most—diagnosing and treating patients. 🎯Cultivate Meaning, Combat Burnout: Meaningful work is vital. Research shows that spending 20% of time on fulfilling tasks significantly reduces burnout. Physicians should dedicate one to two days a week to projects that matter in and/or outside of the office, like external mentoring or patient care, to stay connected with their team and community. 🏥Build Systems that Heal Providers, Not Just Patients: Burnout is a systemic issue, not just an individual one. To address it, healthcare practices need to prioritize physician well-being and provide mental health support. Ensuring doctors have the right resources, sufficient staffing, opportunities for professional growth, and providing adequate time off helps create a culture where they can thrive.
