We are honored to announce Robinson Ventures’ first investment of 2024: Vivifi Medical! Vivifi is revolutionizing the field of medical technologies. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for patients with Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (BPH) and infertility. They were named the FDA Track winner for the 2023 Startup Prize: Focus on Health! Varicocele affects approximately 30 million men in the US alone and is the direct cause of over 1.5 million infertile couples. Vivifi has developed the Calexis-Lap device, the world’s first suture-less, minimally invasive solution for immediate and long-lasting reversal of varicocele. They’re currently working on developing a medically relevant prototype of their laparoscopic device and hope to enter the testing phases soon! Vivifi made a lot of progress in the first quarter of 2024, adding 4 new highly qualified specialists to their team, as well as several exceptional advisors. They aren’t done yet, though, and we look forward to future progress! Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), also known as enlarged prostate, has been in the headlines recently with Britain's King Charles revealing plans earlier this year to have a corrective procedure to alleviate the associated symptoms. In this episode of the #MedtechImpactPocast, Tushar Sharma, Vivifi Medical’s CEO and Founder, joins Kyle Kruse 🚀 and I to guide listeners through an amazing anatomical insight of the condition and their novel treatment. An enlarged prostate is a fact of life for the majority of men as they age. Due to the prostate’s close proximity to the urethra which carries urine from the bladder, pressure can build on this vessel as the prostate expands, leading to a range of associated urinary issues. Depending upon the severity of the patient's symptoms, different surgical techniques may be needed to alleviate these, with doctors often considering invasive surgery the best long-term option for relief of more bothersome effects. Under the leadership of Tushar, their exciting solution holds significant promise and despite its early development stage, has already received excellent feedback from surgeons. With such an innovative technology, comes a complex set of product development, clinical, regulatory, and reimbursement challenges.
