For those who know me, you’ll know I love documenting every step of my design process. There’s so much value in reflecting on what works, what doesn’t, and how to avoid repeating mistakes. But I’ve learned over time that not everyone shares this enthusiasm. Clients usually just want the numbers and insights. They don’t care how much time you spent building a strategy to name every layer... unless they’re paying by the hour, but that’s a different story! Brent Dykes describe this well with his movie analogy (check out his post: https://lnkd.in/dHnVcNiF). It’s about the difference between telling the behind-the-scenes story and delivering compelling narratives. So, where’s the audience for those of us who love the process? I’ve found it: Researchers! I'm happy to share that I’ll be presenting at IEEE VIS Conference 2024 alongside Kevin Ford, where we’ll be sharing our process behind building visualization for Viz for Social Good at the EduVis Workshop: “Implementing the Solution Framework in a Social Impact Project” Huge thanks to the organizers, especially Fateme Rajabiyazdi, PhD, PEng and Mandy Keck.
