Legal tech all often overpromises and underdelivers, particulaly when it comes to Gen AI. But vLex's latest updates to its AI tool, Vincent, may be different. With new multimodal AI capabilities, enhanced litigation analytics, the ability to build and respond to arguments and theories, and a Beta Vincent Studio to safely apply the tools to internal documents, Vincent’s new tools appear to offer real, practical benefits for litigators, which is what vLex is known for. The new tools enable better, faster, and more informed litigation strategies. Here’s my take and some use cases I see for litigators.

Just about back to running on UK time following a whirlwind week in San Francisco for vLex with Editha Nemsic (Senior Solutions Engineer at vLex R&D and my data science partner in crime in my former role at Mishcon). 🧪 Our first stop was to OpenAI in Mission Bay. For anyone in the business of working with #LargeLanguageModels, OpenAI is a pretty important place. It was great to spend time there with Ugesen Pillay. 🎥 We paid two visits to Rayan K. and Langston Nashold at Vals AI and did a bit filming for their forthcoming VLAIR report. Office-envy was running pretty high here, too. ⭐ But the main highlight was running a full day workshop with Léo Murgel and his team at Salesforce's (terrifyingly) massive HQ. We were joined by Tom Atkinson and Thaiane Araujo, who braved truly awful travelling conditions to make it down from Toronto and Montreal. Salesforce are an important Vincent partner and my (OpenAI) notebook was close to full by the end of the day. (I'm ashamed to say I declined an invitation to visit the viewing deck on their 60th floor on account of my phobia of heights). The jet lag is brutal, but you really can't beat getting time on the ground to work with your customers and partners face-to-face. Looking forward to being out stateside again later in March (Legalweek, New York) with Ella Krikler (Senior Solutions Architect at vLex) and for CodeX, The Stanford Center for Legal Informatics, where I'll be speaking, in April). #legaltech
