A project close to our hearts in Kenya: Children's Hope receives financial support of 1,000 euros as part of #VoithCares. The children's initiative in #Kenya supports children and young people in gaining an education and thus enables families in the Machakos district south-east of #Nairobi to build a better life for themselves. A total of 84 families with around 250 children are currently members of the project. Most of them live in scattered mud houses or huts that rarely have electricity or water. Specifically, the #VoithCares funding goes towards a sewing project that enables ten women to earn their own living and improve their families' standard of living in the long term by making and selling school uniforms and other items of clothing. "We are very grateful for the support Children's Hope receives from Voith, because the self-help activities bring about a lasting improvement in living conditions," explains Frank Rotthaus, Manager Platform Solutions at #Voith Digital Solutions, who has been involved in his passion project for over 20 years. As part of the #VoithCares program, Voith and the Hanns Voith Foundation annually award financial support to a select number of employee-nominated social projects and nonprofits they volunteer for. Children's Hope already received a funding from Voith last year.

🎉 Join us today as we remember and celebrate the legacy of our former colleague, Paul Priem. ➡️ For 40 years, Paul was a beacon of innovation and leadership in our paper machine construction department at Voith. Since joining us in 1889 as an engineer, Paul revolutionized the field with his groundbreaking approaches. 💡 Upon returning from two extensive trips to America, he introduced fresh ideas that laid the foundation for a new era of paper machine construction. His objective was to enhance productivity by creating wider, faster machines for the industry. His innovative designs quickly gained popularity, a testament being the order for four state-of-the-art paper machines from Papyrus-Mannheim paper mill in 1908. 🤝 🎓 At just 30 years old, Paul was promoted to Chief Engineer for the grinding and paper machine construction departments in 1896. His rapid ascension continued as he was granted power of attorney in 1898, and by 1904, he had already become a director. His trailblazing inventions, including the individual electric drive for paper machines, the magazine grinder with automatic control, the extendable wire section, the high-pressure headbox, and notably, the continuous grinder, have left an indelible mark on paper production. 🏆 ➡️ Today, we honor Paul Priem's enduring contributions to Voith and the paper industry. Last week, our dual students from Heidenheim, Ravensburg, and Sonthofen kicked off an exciting introduction week! 🎉 From engaging in team-building challenges to exploring the Schluchseewerk AG, and not to forget, an overnight stay in a traditional Swiss hostel and an Etiquette workshop, the week was packed with activities to foster connections and offer enlightening insights. We are proud to foster a more inclusive society! Voith employees and their families participated in a meaningful event with the Taicang Inclusion Factory in China, which supports individuals with intellectual disabilities. As part of the #VoithCares program, Voith and the Hanns Voith Foundation annually award financial support to a select number of employee-nominated social projects and nonprofits they volunteer for. Our donation contributed to this event proceeding smoothly. The event featured a variety of activities, where families teamed up to prepare lunch and engaged in games such as shooting and tug-of-war. These activities promoted communication, understanding, and cooperation, helping young people expand their social circles and develop life skills, while facilitating their integration into society. The Inclusion Factory is a pioneering NGO dedicated to advancing employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities in China. Currently, it employs 45 such individuals, providing them with meaningful work and support. At Voith, we are committed to promoting social inclusiveness.
