Free clinic focused on a culture of caring to improve access to health care for America’s underserved and uninsured.
About us
What is VIM? Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) San Diego is a nonprofit medical clinic serving low-income, uninsured families in San Diego County, California since 2006. We care for people who do not qualify for Medicare and have no insurance of any kind. We are the safety net for patients who have no other resource for medical care. We do this by engaging volunteer doctors, nurses, therapists, pharmacists, interpreters and other community members who have a passion for our mission and demonstrate the “Culture of Caring” and kindness on which the VIM Clinic was founded. Since inception, our patients have never been charged for their medical visits, diagnostics tests, or treatments. We are able to offer free medical care because of the generous donation of time, energy and expertise by our over 100 volunteers.

As part of our Patient Outreach program, we've partnered with the Good Shepherd Ministry Center to be part of their Saturday Food Distribution. We'll be there with volunteers who can give prospective patients information about the clinic & the services we offer, as well as doing some basic health assessments. Come see us on Saturday & meet some of our awesome team!

At NAFC, we believe everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, no matter their circumstances. That's why we offer free and charitable clinic services to our community. 💙 The need is real: 82% of our patients are uninsured, 82% live at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level, and 37% are unemployed.
