Our series "Who's Got Your Vote?" takes you inside Richmond's race for mayor. Rich talks with each candidate to bring you closer to the issues and faces that want to shape the future of Richmond. So, who's got your vote? This week Rich talks with Danny TK Avula, a pediatrician who was also recently the state commissioner for the Virginia Department of Social Services. He says the connections he formed while overseeing the state's COVID rollout can help in amassing more financial support for the city and maintains his support for LGBTQ and abortion rights, despite support from prominent social conservatives in Richmond.

On Wednesday, October 16 VPM hosted an in depth conversation to bring awareness to Virginians on how the November elections will affect them. The discussion was led by Dr. Rich Meagher, host of RVA’s Got Issues and political science professor at Randolph-Macon College. The conversation involved renowned political analyst Dr. Bob Holsworth as well as Angie Miles, host of VPM’s Focal point and internationally acclaimed VPM journalist Jahd Khalil.

One of the region’s most anticipated musical festivals arrives in Richmond later this month ... and VPM will be there! The Richmond Folk Festival celebrates its 20th year and VPM is proud to broadcast the performances live from the festival, as well as welcome festival-goers to our tent across from the Altria stage. The Richmond Folk Festival begins on Friday, September 27 at 6:30 p.m. and runs through Sunday, September 29 at 6:00 p.m.

The trophy case at 23 Sesame Street got a little more crowded this past weekend! VPM earned four public media honors at the 56th Annual Public Media Awards Gala that took place on Sunday, September 15 during the 2024 NETA Conference and CPB Public Media Thought Leader Forum.
