🚈 In 2024 VTA scheduled several ongoing light rail shutdowns to keep the rail infrastructure in good standing. 🚍 Since the first shutdown in April, bus operators completed over 8,000 service hours dedicated to providing bus bridges to ensure riders could still travel to their destinations. 🚧 Although efforts this year are winding down, construction is set to resume in the future. Stay tuned for updates! Details: https://bit.ly/3Y7Zz9R

VTA’s Chief of System Safety and Security Aston T. Greene added to the conversation on crisis management and potential threats in the workplace as we approach what some expect to be a contentious election day. Our thanks to Applied Materials for hosting this important conversation along with General William Walker, Chief Security Officer, Allied Universal Rachelle Loyear, Vice President, Integrated Security Solutions, Allied Universal, Mike Kihmm, Senior Manager of Corporate Security, Irvine Company, Christopher Deringer, CISSP, CPP, PCI, PSP Global Security Operations Manager, Applied Materials. From safety training plans and security certification programs, to promoting a culture of prioritizing the mental health of employees, Aston emphasized the importance of being prepared and proactive for emergencies before they happen. “We don’t plan for ‘if’ something will happen. We have to plan for ‘when’ it will happen.” By having practiced training plans in place, we react to emergencies with logic instead of emotions.
