Exciting updates from the Keck Center! Omar Perez, Keck Center undergraduate student, can be seen here leveraging UTEP's cutting-edge coordinate measuring machine (CMM) from Renishaw USA to scan an acoustics testing model using non-contact structured light inspection. The resulting digital file can be 3D printed into a unique model, supporting collaborative efforts between The University of Texas at El Paso and GN Group - a global leader in intelligent audio solutions, including hearing aids and hearing protection devices. In another pioneering project, the Keck Center is using the CMM system to precisely measure worn forging tools for repair using directed energy deposition (DED) 3D printing. This innovative approach is set to enhance the lifespan and efficiency of these tools! Stay tuned for more groundbreaking advancements! #engineering #advancements #students #college #innovation

Statistics is something that is sadly underutilized in the scientific community and especially the additive manufacturing industry. How do you know your results are trustworthy and repeatable? Are you sure your data truly represents your population? How do you know you have enough samples? At the Keck Center we are collaborating with Terra Integrated Solutions to learn how to properly use statistics and we will be coming up with a way that more researchers can apply statistics without being statisticians. Training is ongoing!! 😁 #engineering #training #statistics #stats #students #lab

We had a fantastic visit from the Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) at the lab! Dr. David Espalin led the charge as we delivered research updates and performed a live demo of our ceramics 3D printing. Our UTEP students also had the chance to network with KCNSC professionals and attend an insightful workshop on professional development and first-year expectations at KCNSC. This visit was a great opportunity to showcase our work on three ceramics 3D printing projects and to receive valuable technical input from KCNSC experts. #lab #visit #network #engineering #students #university #3dprinting

Come along and see how I spent my last day at the W.M. Keck Center for 3D Innovation, where we designed and manufactured a stainless steel bell crank using SOLIDWORKS, nTop, and ExOne's Innovent+ #binderjetting machine — all in less than 24 hours! Special thanks to my mentor, Edel Arrieta, and to Diego Ariza for their assistance with the printing process, and to Bradley Rothenberg and his #nTopLearning team! #additivemanufacturing #ntopology #solidworks
