Happy birthday to the original Walgreens pharmacist, our company founder Charles R. Walgreen Sr., who was born 151 years ago today! 📰 In 1893, Charles came to Chicago and found a job at Samuel Rosenfeld’s drugstore at Quincy and Wells through a classified ad in the Chicago Tribune. Three years later he became a registered pharmacist by the Illinois State Board of Pharmacy. 💊 In 1898, at the beginning of the Spanish-American War, he enlisted with the Illinois National Guard and went to Cuba. There, among other duties, he was put in charge of the dispensary. 👨⚕️ In 1901, after returning to Chicago, he bought what would be the first Walgreens drugstore and put his name above the door: C.R. World Cerebral Palsy Day falls within the first week of National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Both observances aim to improve access, challenge stereotypes and raise awareness of the many contributions that people with disabilities bring to the workplace and beyond. Fall is officially in full swing, and unfortunately so are fall allergies and seasonal colds. When you're feeling a bit under the weather, what is your go-to for comfort?

Late last week and into the weekend, Hurricane Helene devastated many parts of the Southeast, personally impacting several Walgreens team members and closing dozens of our store locations.     I am beyond proud of our teams who have been working tirelessly to deliver aid to our team members in the affected areas, including financial assistance from the Walgreen Benefit Fund, as well as the teams who are taking care of the communities that need us. We are working to resume operations as soon as possible because we know how important it is to be available to our customers.     Starting today, we’ve activated a national PIN pad program with the American Red Cross where customers can donate at checkout to the relief efforts, and Walgreens will also make a $100,000 donation to the American Red Cross Hurricane Helene Fund. Additionally, we are donating water and other urgent supplies for the communities in need.     The safety of our team members and customers is and will always be our team’s top priority, and we will continue to do everything we can to support those who are impacted by Hurricane Helene.     #HurricaneHelene #ReliefEfforts #TeamWalgreens

Happy 110th birthday to Mary Cantway! 🎂 Mary—one of the oldest women in Chicagoland—celebrated her milestone birthday with friends and family this week.
