Sometimes one medium inspires another, which is why Copywriter Coleen Kinen-Ferguson turns to these tried and true TV shows when she needs some creative inspiration. From complex and human-centric storylines to quippy one-liners and clever puns, these shows are great for getting the creative writing juices flowing.

    • Employee: Coleen Kinen-Ferguson, Copywriter & Social Strategist.
Subject: TV Shows That Inspire Creative Writing.
    • 1. Mad Men.

The quintessential show about advertising, Mad Men is also a complex character study that isn’t afraid to dive deep into its subject matter — then turn it on its head. For writers who need to get at the heart of their subject, Mad Men is a masterclass.
    • 2. Gilmore Girls.

Nobody talks faster than the two leads on Gilmore Girls, and no screenwriter packs in more obscure and witty pop-culture references than Amy Sherman-Palladino.
    • 3. Hacks.

For a copywriter, writing shouldn’t always just be good. Sometimes, it needs to hit its mark and hit it hard. And you’ll find some pretty hilarious examples of how to do exactly that in this show about comedy writing.
    • 4. The Twilight Zone.

Wordplay, double entendre, and irony are three essentials in any writer’s toolkit and they’re wielded masterfully in this classically spooky anthology series.

Sometimes… project feedback isn’t as straightforward as we’d like it to be. Thankfully, our team members do know how to “fold the cheese” and when it comes to complex creative feedback, we know the right questions to ask to make sure everything goes off without a hitch.

Creating a new website is the perfect time to set your brand up for SEO success. For every website we build, we work closely with an SEO Specialist like Sarah Joyce Holzer to ensure the website is fully optimized for search engines and a streamlined user experience. Building SEO best practices into a website from the beginning ensures a strong future foundation for growth. If your site is already built, it’s never too late to start implementing new SEO guidelines. Here are five things Walk West and Sarah do for our web clients.

    • The Best SEO Web Practices.
with SEO Specialist, Sarah Joyce.
    • 1. Start with keyword research. Knowing what your core audience is searching for and how your business can help will allow you to design a site with a strong user experience.
    • 2. Optimize your images.
Image optimization is a lot easier to do from the start than to fix later. Compress images to under 100KB, give them strong alt tags using keywords where relevant, and save them with file names that properly describe the image.
    • 3. Consider Core Web Vitals.
When building a new site you have the perfect opportunity to optimize for speed and Core Web Vital performance. Ensuring elements on the site are correctly spaced and load quickly makes all the difference.
    • 4. Bake in best practices.
Optimizing your new site from launch can ensure you have a better chance of ranking quicker. Optimize the basics, like meta titles, descriptions, and H1 tags – and build them into your processes from the beginning.
