  • Calling all post production professionals! Do you like saving time on your After Effects renders? ⏱️🧐 If so, read on! In the new After Effects CC 2024, there is a feature called “Composition Profiler,” and it’s truly a game-changer. Enable it by clicking the snail icon at the bottom of your composition to get a pinpoint visual on exactly how much time it will take to render each individual layer. Color coded, this feature helps you to determine if a particular layer is slowing down your render, which can help you identify effects or plugins that may need switched out. We’ve dreamed of something like this, and it’s finally here! 🥳 Check out Adobe's article on Composition Profiler for more details. https://1l.ink/HVJ8RHL

  • It's certainly been a busy summer! We recently got permission to close down a road to shoot a classic car scene for an upcoming corporate mini doc. Thank goodness for the sunshine. ☀️ We also traveled to Butler, Punxsutawney and Greensburg to grab interviews and broll and used some new tools to get the job done. As always, a huge thanks to our hard-working crew for another job well done!

  • We had a great shoot this week for an upcoming corporate mini doc where we were surrounded by eye candy! 🤩 🚗 We had the chance to test out some new lenses including a tilt shift lens that created a very cinematic perspective for some of our shots. Huge thanks to our outstanding crew for making it all run smoothly! Can't wait to share more about the client's story and how their company has changed lives over the years. 🎥 Stay tuned for more!

  • Building on our previous post on Artificial Intelligence, we’re excited to talk about how Sony is making some of our greatest tech dreams come true with its recently released mirrorless camera and newly developed AI Processing Unit. But what is it, and how can it impact your shoots? Since 2022’s release of the Sony Alpha 7R V mirrorless camera, the auto focus game has changed. In the past, a professional would never use auto-focus, but with super-fast and sharp lenses on large sensor cameras that are 4k and higher, it is now almost a necessity. With AI-driven auto focus, the camera can recognize the subject’s eyes even when the subject is turned sideways, and the subject’s head even when turned away from the camera. Also, when shooting in a vertically, there is a wider Real Time Eye AF area, meaning you can get stable and crisp eye recognition even when the subject is at the very edge of the frame. But that’s not all. There are brand new settings enabling the distinction between human, bird, animal, insect, and even vehicles. This gives you greater control over who or what to focus on in your scene. That is just how specific and advanced AI-powered auto-focus tracking has become! Here is a direct comparison between the new Alpha 7RV (latest model) and the Alpha 7RiV (previous model): https://1l.ink/CRDFWT4 Our catalogue of gear includes 2 Sony FX6’s with all Premium G-Master Series lenses as well as the Sony A7iv. While some of the AI features we mentioned are specific to the newly released mirrorless camera, a firmware update to the FX6 in 2022 brought along some of the same advanced facial tracking benefits, making focus faster and more precise than ever. Even during manual focus, if “Touch Function in MF” is set to Tracking AF, the FX6 can use Real-time Tracking to track the subject. These new technologies and features are proving to be invaluable in our newer filming projects, especially when using the Sony FX-6 on a Gimbal where there is constant stabilized motion.

  • At Warhola, quality and efficiency are high on our list to achieve the best possible results for our clients. That involves staying up on our tech, and Artificial Intelligence or “AI” has been an interesting addition to our toolkit. Here’s a quick list of apps that we’ve found most useful in our production workflow. 1. Adobe Firefly (www.adobe.com/firefly) – Included with Adobe’s Creative Cloud software, Adobe Firefly can be categorized under “Generative AI.” All it takes is a simple text prompt for Firefly to intuitively generate images, text effects, color palettes, and more. While we don’t use AI generated imagery in our final productions, we do find it useful to come up with fresh visual concepts for storyboards and shot lists. 2. Adobe Audition (https://lnkd.in/ec5BvNjB) and Logic Pro for Mac (www.apple.com/logic-pro) – We’ve found it’s a plus when AI is built into software that we’re already familiar with, and the new features in these apps can make the process of optimizing audio much more efficient. Our postproduction supervisor and senior audio engineer, Doug Dienst, occasionally makes use of the built-in tools to restore and enhance noisy audio, adjust levels, EQ settings, and more. 3. Topaz Labs (including Topaz Video AI, Topaz Photo, and Topaz Sharpen) (www.topazlabs.com) – Topaz Labs uses machine learning to make remarkable improvements to low resolution, poorly lit, out of focus, or grainy photos or video. 4. Vendasta (www.vendasta.com) – Vendasta has an impressive lineup of products, but the one that owner Jay Warhola finds most helpful is Vendasta’s AI-based social media management tool. Keeping content optimized for various social media platforms has become its own science, but Vendasta makes this a lot easier by enabling businesses to manage multiple social media accounts in one place, schedule posts in advance, and track performance metrics. 5. Runway ML (www.runwayml.com) – Similar to Adobe Firefly, Runway ML uses machine learning models to generate images, clean up audio, assist with script writing, generate captions, edit photos, and perform complicated rotoscoping in a fraction of the time it would take to do manually. What are some AI tools that you’ve found helpful in your workflow? Comment below!
