Changing careers can often be a daunting prospect, but for David Czarnecki, it was simply a leap he had to take. After working at an esteemed global research lab for over a decade, he fatefully discovered a WB job posting for a role in games. “As a lifelong gamer, I distinctly remember asking my husband, ‘I have to apply for this, right?’” recalls David. “The rest, as they say, is history.” Today, David serves as an Advanced Software Engineer on our Title Services team at WB Games New York, where he focuses on the various integrations & products that bridge between our Network Services and Game Services to support our titles – encompassing everything from new marketing activations to routine bug reports. “As the Central Online Technology group for all of Warner Bros. Games, we get to work with all of our studios & partners to supply the services they need to deliver the best game possible and to provide unique & meaningful player experiences,” says David. “I am grateful to be able to work across so many different genres of games to delight our players. I like to say that working alongside the sharpest minds in the industry, if our game teams can dream up the service, we can deliver it!” After a whopping 17 years with the company, David has accomplished the impressive feat of holding roles across ALL of the studio’s various engineering groups, including Live Operations and Tools. But most notable of all, he is on track to achieve a milestone metric of bringing more than 50 AAA titles to our players around the globe! While he is proud of all the games he’s supported, he is especially honored to have worked on the Mortal Kombat franchise for nearly 15 years. “When you are part of a genre-defining game like Mortal Kombat that has a 30+ year history, you truly see the passion and perseverance from the game team, as well as from our fans,” says David. “It has been amazing to witness how the game, its characters, its story and more has evolved over that time. Mortal Kombat really is unique in that whether you're young or old, you have definitely heard of the game.” And speaking of notoriety, David has also built up quite the reputation for himself around the office as a dedicated year-round runner. To date, he’s completed seven full marathons plus countless half marathons – and continues to use running as a cheeky excuse to travel the world. 🏃♂️ #EmployeeSpotlight #LifeAtWBG

Morgan Hanephin may be from a small town, but she grew up as a big Harry Potter fan from reading the books and watching the films with her grandparents, to exploring the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios. After graduating from the University of Utah’s EAE Games Program, it was only a natural fit that she’d join Warner Bros. Games! Beyond our 12 studios, did you know we also have an Asia division? Senior Producer Ivy Liu is one of the brilliant minds on the Warner Bros. Games Asia team, where she works with international partners to develop mobile games based on our beloved IP and helps deliver these titles to a global audience. Ivy has held many different roles in the games industry on both the development and publishing side. She got her start as a game designer and then advanced into a producer supporting projects across multiple genres and platforms. Her favorite? None other than Tom and Jerry: Chase, a mobile game based on the beloved cartoon where players take on the role of either a cat or mouse and face off in 1v4 battles. “None of us could have imagined how much our fans in China love this game,” says Ivy. “After five years of operations, our younger players have grown up playing Tom and Jerry: Chase, yet they are still highly engaged with the game even to this day.” And for Ivy, that’s the best part of being at Warner Bros. Games — connecting fans of our movies, TV series and animations with the fun, interactive entertainment experiences we create. “Our job allows us to help the fans be a part of the stories and worlds they love through games, even after the original film or series has wrapped,” she says. “We work very closely with our theatrical, consumer products and local production teams to ensure our mobile games are authentic and offer an all-around IP experience.” When she’s not working on our titles or playing games though, you can find Ivy unwinding with some Pilates workouts or participating in oil painting classes. (She’s currently honing her skills in the Impressionist style!) #EmployeeSpotlight #LifeAtWBG
