Each month, we celebrate our employees with the Legendary Award. Nominated by their peers, we present the award to recognize employees who have inspired those around them by representing Washington Trust’s core pillars of Wisdom, Vision, Passion, and Strength. Congratulations to our winner for the month of July, Kelly Adamson, Assistant Branch Manager in Meridian! Kelly was nominated by her teammates under the pillar of Passion for exemplary customer service and dedication to her team. Here’s what one of her colleagues had to say: “Kelly continues to be an amazing resource for the entire Southern Idaho commercial team. Her passion for the brand and for customer service is unparalleled, and I know that customer service is one of the most important things here at WTB. Kelly always goes above and beyond. Last month, Homestead Community Land Trust broke ground on two transformative affordable homeownership projects, Nest and Woodland View, in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood of Seattle. The developments will provide 38 new permanently affordable condominium homes tailored for income-qualified residents. Washington Trust was pleased to provide construction financing for Nest. And Leo Madden and Jim Deanne were honored to join affordable housing leaders in celebrating this milestone. Washington Trust continues to pursue solutions that make homeownership possible for any who desire it. We’re a sponsor of the upcoming Puget Sound Business Journal Affordable Housing Forum on October 3. Consider joining us at the event and find more ways to act on affordable housing. https://lnkd.in/gUrD3_qG

Spokane’s cost of living has dipped below the national average. Washington Trust chief economist, Steve Scranton, CFA, provides his perspective on this recent development in the Journal of Business: “When companies are looking at potentially...establishing business in the city, or people are looking at moving to a city, there’s really three things that they normally look at on a regular basis: What’s the cost of living? What’s the affordability and availability of housing, and what’s the crime rate?” Read more about this news at https://lnkd.in/gTq-nBjw

Today, Washington Trust had the privilege of joining AHANA as it celebrated the grand opening of its new location in Spokane's University District with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. We were honored to present a $100,000 donation to AHANA, supporting their mission of championing multiethnic and multicultural businesses in the Inland Northwest. The new facility at 327 E. Pacific includes offices, a training room, and small business incubator spaces, enabling AHANA to expand their services and better support the community. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to AHANA's vision and are excited to see the positive impact this new space will have on local entrepreneurs.

Washington Trust was beyond excited to attend Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King County's open house at their Yarrow Cottages property in the South Park neighborhood of Seattle. We got to see the incredible work Habitat for Humanity is doing in delivering affordable housing and get an up-close look at the beautiful homes being created for families in our community. While attending, Christin Malek learned more about their impactful homeownership model and how it's transforming lives. This event served to build a stronger connection with community members and others dedicated to supporting affordable housing. We are proud to support Habitat for Humanity’s mission and to be part of a community making affordable housing a reality. Carrie Wolter, MPA
