September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The American Cancer Society estimates that about 9,620 children in the U.S. under age 15 will be diagnosed with cancer this year. Our pediatric surgeons at St. Louis Children’s Hospital work in partnership with Siteman Cancer Center to treat children with cancer.

Matthew Rosengart, MD, MPH, a professor of surgery in the Division of Acute and Critical Care Surgery, delivered a talk titled “Light and Critical Illness” Andrew Gelman, PhD, a professor of surgery in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, delivered his talk titled “Human versus Beast: Advances in Translational Models of Lung Transplant”

The program funds proposals for education research and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
