We had an amazing night celebrating the work of Providence House, Inc., an incredible non-profit that provides temporary housing for women who would otherwise be incarcerated, transitional housing for families experiencing homelessness, and permanent supportive housing in the NYC area.    It’s an honor to continue to support their work and spend an evening with so many fellow New Yorkers and the great folks who make it happen for over 600 women and families each year!!

If you didn’t catch it the first time, the W&W team (especially Rebecca Schmidt & Michael Persak) ran around a VERY gridlocked New York City absorbing all they could at #ClimateWeek2024! While a bunch of prep went into this, there are certainly takeaways #PR and #marketing pros can relate to – and maybe even learn from.    Here’s what stood out:    💡 Morningstar puts on some really incredible events – and an all-women panel no less! Nazmeera Moola made so many excellent points it made navigating the MetLife building well worth our while.    💡 Journalists are always BUSY, but that's especially during this week. Best to only promise sit-down interviews if your SMEs have truly flexible schedules.    💡 The motivations for “going green” are wide-ranging. Whether it be public demand, regulations, altruistic belief in decreasing a businesses’ #carbon footprint, or something else, each industry is navigating the space on its own terms, with its own factors at play. Most importantly, no industry is exempt from the #greenification movement!    💡 EY and its panelists gave us a ton to think about and ideate on, and to no one’s surprise, Kristen Gray was a killer moderator!    💡 Michael Persak still swears by handwritten notes – you know what they say, once a journalist, always a journalist.    💡 Rebecca Schmidt says to skip the Uber and hop on the subway. Though there is a lot happening this week, showing up late is frowned upon. Also, drop off your suitcase at your hotel ahead of time, it’s always worth it.

You know it’s true when it’s in print in 2024! 📰 As the election approaches, many businesses are hesitating to invest in expansion due to the uncertainty surrounding the upcoming US Presidential election. Our client, David Page, Head of Macro Research at AXA Investment Managers, recently spoke about this with Ana Swanson of the The New York Times and discussed his macroeconomic outlook and implications of the upcoming election, stating that the ambiguity surrounding potential tariffs has already created “quite a material effect on all levels of government and within companies as well.” Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/eh_g-Rh6

Congratulations to Girls Who Invest for a fantastic evening last night!! Seema Hingorani has created something truly special; you could hear a pin drop during her speech. And Katherine Jollon Colsher and her team are working wonders within the investment management space. Oh, and did we mention they raised more than half a million dollars!?!? Here's some pics from the party, and click here to learn more about their work + donate: https://lnkd.in/dF3QeCBD

Many thanks to the entire Hedley May team for inviting us to their 15th anniversary party last week!   Held on a beautiful rooftop in Rockefeller Center, it was great getting to meet our newest client and some of their clients, friends and family. They’ve built an incredible brand in the US and UK and we can’t wait to get going. Happy anniversary to Laura McPhail and her team!

The recent fluctuations in sustainability investing and green bonds have made it challenging to predict the future. However, one thing remains clear, as our clients — like Jamison (Jamie) Friedland of AXA Investment Managers —have been highlighting to reporters: the key to preventing ESG divestment and reigniting momentum lies in impact reporting.   Investors are seeking more than just financial returns; they want to see tangible evidence that their investments are making a positive environmental impact. By emphasizing accountability and transparency, companies can not only rebuild trust but also drive long-term growth in sustainable investing.   It’s exciting to watch how businesses will leverage impact reporting to bolster investor confidence, bringing ESG back to its roots and reaffirming why these investments are crucial in the first place.

I recently spoke to Caleb Mutua at Bloomberg about the $5.5 trillion ESG bond market. In this piece, which was featured in the publication’s ESG Bond Weekly, I discussed impact reporting. A recap of some of the larger points below: ➡ Demand for Transparency: As the green bond market grows, so does the expectation for transparency. Companies must provide detailed impact reporting to ensure investors can trust that their funds are genuinely making a difference. ➡ Importance of Impact Metrics: It’s not enough to report where the proceeds go; investors need clear metrics on environmental benefits, such as pollution reduction, to truly assess the value of their investments. ➡ Accountability Matters: I emphasize the importance of accountability in green bond investments. If issuers fail to deliver robust impact reports within a set timeframe, they risk losing investor confidence and potentially face divestment. Thanks for the time, Caleb Mutua #ESG #Bonds #FixedIncome #AXAIM Capital at Risk
