Finding the funds to get reuse projects off the ground can be a big challenge in the water industry. We’re excited to hear about new opportunities and options that can help move #waterreuse forward in Texas. Thanks to the Water Environment Association of Texas for shedding some light on navigating the funding process. Looking forward to hearing from Dallas Shattuck, Scott Galaway, and Luis Cruzado on this important topic. WRTX members receive free access to the webinar. The votes are in! The 2024 Vandertulip Award goes to Eva Steinle-Darling, PhD, PE from Carollo Engineers for her presentation Why Potable Reuse is Ahead of the PFAS Game: Lessons from The Water Research Foundation (WRF) 5082. Thanks, Eva, for providing great insight into managing PFAS, starting with source control and looking at decades of experience in potable reuse treatment to see what is working. #WRTX2024 attendees selected this presentation from more than 25 presentations at the three-day conference. Did you take a few minutes this week to #ImagineADayWithoutWater? This is always top of mind at #WRTX, and we work to highlight the role #waterreuse can play in building more resilient Texas communities. Great insight from WateReuse Executive Director Patricia Sinicropi on the recent report from the Global Commission on the Economics of Water—it’s so important to make the connection between imagining a day without water and imagining a water-secure future with reuse! #onewater #waterandwastewater #waterindustry

We’re excited to announce the winners of the #WRTX2024 student poster competition! Fantastic work by Khan Md Rabbani Rasha and Peyton Torkelson, who took first place for their analysis of NDMA in direct potable reuse, and Anjumand Ashraf, who received second place for research into integrating reclaimed water and stormwater into water supplies. It was great to see these young minds focused on some of today’s top #waterreuse challenges. Thanks to Texas State University Professor Keisuke Ikehata for supporting their attendance at the conference—we can’t wait to see what they do next. #WRTX #onewater #waterandwastewater #waterindustry

It’s great to see growing recognition by legislators that reuse will need to play a key role in the future of #Texas water. Thanks to WRTX President Christina Montoya-Halter for providing testimony to the House Committee on Natural Resources last week and shining a light on what our community needs to move reuse forward. And a shoutout to Austin Water, this year’s WRTX Reuse Impact Award recipient, for leading the way and providing an example of what is possible with #waterreuse. #WRTX #onewater #waterandwastewater #waterindustry
