What is a lipid raft, and what does it have to do with #PrecisionMedicine? 🛟 Composed not only of lipids but also cholesterol and proteins, #LipidRafts are tightly-packed formations that float within the cell membrane. They play a key role in many critical aspects of #CellBiology, from molecular trafficking across the cell membrane to cell communication and signaling. Check out our latest blog for a mini review on the significance of lipid rafts in cancer, infectious disease, and targeted #DrugDelivery. 💡 https://lnkd.in/eM96RZAd

💡 What are the most important things we should be teaching future scientists? 💡 What is metadata and why is it important in biological research? 💡 What should my next end-of-the summer read be? Get the answers to these questions and more in our new Science Chat with Dr. Daria Shlyueva, Senior Scientist at Novo Nordisk. https://lnkd.in/eeC2H9JA With a PhD in #MolecularBiology from the University of Vienna and a Master’s in #Biomedicine from Karolinska Institutet, Dr. Shlyueva now travels between the wet and dry lab to help scientists derive insights from metadata. Check out our interview to learn about her career journey and advice for researchers. #biotech #biopharma #watershedbio

Had a great time attending Boston Business Journal's Women Who Lead in Life Sciences event yesterday! From my first day entering the Biotech space I've been welcomed in by incredibly talented women who have, and continue to, teach and inspire me. 💫 Huge thank you to the speakers Margo Georgiadis, Maha Radhakrishnan, Tamar Thompson, Theonie Anastassiadis, Floris Engelhardt and Theresa Tribble for their wonderful panels and advice on mentorship, DEI practices and putting yourself in the path of opportunity. #bbjwwl Kelley Borer-Miller Bonnie Bertolaet

This preprint by Benoît Schmauch et al demonstrates how their #machinelearning tool MISO can predict spatial transcriptomics data from H&E-stained tumor sections. While many #spatialbiology tools are not yet translatable to clinical settings, H&E slides are a mainstay and these methods could expand clinical access to spatial methodologies. 💡 #oncology #cancerresearch
Super proud to unveil MISO (Multiscale Integration of Spatial Omics), our latest model enabling near single-cell resolution & spatially-resolved gene expression prediction from H&E-stained slides. Why should you care? Spatial transcriptomics is a key technology to discover new disease biology, and Owkin is at the forefront of this revolution with MOSAIC. But it remains challenging to use routinely, and our model represents a novel approach for augmenting multimodal datasets and scale up integration of spatial transcriptomics data with tumor morphology. Congrats to my amazing co-authors, with a special shout-out to our very talented lead author Benoît Schmauch. This study was enabled by our fruitful collaboration with the FFCD.
