WaterStep’s VP of Training and Field Operations Kurtis Daniels walks you through how our Water on Wheels Cart (WOWCart) creates safe water from a variety of unsafe water sources. 💧 WaterStep is distributing thousands of gallons of safe water weekly after Helene using the WOWCart and has responded to disasters around the U.S. and globally. Learn more about the WOWCart and why the Army Corps of Engineers, Coast Guard, EPA, and others utilize this technology for a variety of sanitation and safe water preparedness needs at www.waterstep.com #SafeWaterSolutions #Helene #Helene2024 #HeleneRelief #HeleneNC #HurricaneHelene #hurricaneseason2024 #hurricane #hurricanerelief #hurricanehelene2024 #DisasterRelief #disasterreliefefforts #safewaterforall #DisasterResponse #DisasterResponseTeam #asheville #ashevillenc #ashevillenorthcarolina #heleneaftermath

We keep being surprised. 1. 💧 In the past week in Asheville, we have been shocked to see our safe water distribution numbers climb despite city water coming online. The water reaching homes is still unsafe to drink, but we expected to see its limited uses impact our output. Residents say the city water development led to many water distribution hubs wrapping up their operations. More of these residents have since turned to WaterStep for safe water for drinking, showering, washing dishes, and laundry. Buncombe County has stated it may be mid-December before water will return to normal. 2. 🫶 No matter how many times we see it, we are constantly amazed at the resiliency of the residents in the wake of Helene. Their positivity and support for one another during this time are a constant reminder of the importance of community. 3. ⛈️ Lastly, Helene surprised most of us. You don't often expect the effects of a hurricane to hit an inland mountain region as hard as Western North Carolina was hit. It's a harrowing reminder that disaster preparedness must be on everyone's agenda. Today, not tomorrow. Please consider supporting our work today. Our volunteers aren't just handing out safe water. They're bringing out their families, handing out handwritten notes of encouragement written by staff, and sharing smiles and compassion to everyone that stops by! It's a special thing and a special group y'all. It must be in the safe water! 💙

As WaterStep expands our work in Western North Carolina, it's still shocking to see the damage from Helene, but inspiring to see the work being done by communities and organizations to turn the tide. As many of us head into our weekend plans, a time for escaping the challenges of our weeks, please keep the residents and those responding in your thoughts. That is not an option here. Please consider donating to the efforts underway and pitching in however you can. This only happens by working together. Support WaterStep and learn more about what we do at www.waterstep.org

WaterStep’s work, both globally and locally, isn’t possible without our volunteers. 💙 Whether it’s in the plains of Kenya, or the hills of North Carolina, these amazing individuals are the heartbeat of what we do. Sometimes, we’re not sure if we found them, or they found us, but we do know it happened for a reason. This post is dedicated to our amazing volunteers in Asheville. Keith Krebbs, Michael Rimes, Iaian Muth, Clifton Williams, Jill Richardson, Sherrill Barber, Scott Smith, and the list goes on! To every single one of you that have shown up, every day, or even for a few hours, we tip our hat. ✨️ Tragedy has a way of bringing us all together, to shine brighter than the darkness around us. The compassion we’re seeing in Asheville by this team is as bright as it gets. THANK YOU! 💧

Hurricane Helene Update! 💧 We have a demonstration this morning with the command center here in Burnsville, North Carolina. Right now, they have trucks going to other states to pick up water and bring it back to residents. More vehicles on the road is a major problem in these areas and the large trucks can’t access areas that need to be reached. We’re meeting to discuss how WaterStep’s equipment can make this process simpler by treating the water they have in Burnsville, allowing tankers to stay in place, while making water from local sources safe to drink. Thank you for the support. If you are an organization dealing with these kind of problems in your area, please learn more about our work at www.waterstep.org ✨ #SafeWaterSolutions #Helene #Helene2024 #HeleneRelief #HeleneNC #HurricaneHelene #hurricaneseason2024 #hurricane #hurricanerelief #hurricanehelene2024 #DisasterRelief #disasterreliefefforts #safewaterforall #DisasterResponse #DisasterResponseTeam #asheville #ashevillenc #ashevillenorthcarolina #heleneaftermath
