I wasn't going to mention this but my Calm app (which I'm addicted to) asked me to reflect today and "Write a note to your past self about how far you have come." Yesterday, while my sister was clearing out my dad's house, she sent me this - it's an essay I wrote when I was 12 or 13. It hasn't aged well at all. Now grown up, I often think about nursing, and it still may be in the cards for me. And although Mike Tyson and Donald Trump appeared to have it going on in the 80s, well, you know. I have the most loving, caring, funny, honest, smart and "rich" person I could dream of. And while I've had the pleasure of working with some of the best people in science, sitting on a lake at sunset suits me just fine these days. I would write to 13 year old me - "Rich is not money. Rich is love, happiness, and peace. You'll get it someday." What would you write to your 13 year old self?
