Do What You Love & Help Along The Way

About us

Waves For Water works on the front lines to provide access to clean water through the implementation of portable water filters, the construction and renovation of bore-hole wells, and the construction of rainwater harvesting and storage systems–in places where groundwater is not accessible. At the center of all these efforts is empowerment. Supported by our belief in developing and empowering local networks, we always implement our programs through the local teams of volunteers and community leaders, that we cultivate in the beginning stages of any project. This process enables us to connect with a community on a deeper level, by establishing trust and rapport, over time–which ultimately ensures the highest potential for a truly sustainable program. Waves For Water has implemented programs in 48 countries, with active programs in 23. They have responded to 33 disasters globally, implementing over 155 clean water programs globally - using water filtration systems (150,000), bore-hole wells, and rainwater harvesting systems. Since 2009 Waves For Water has impacted over 3,750,000 people.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, clean water access in western North Carolina, especially around Asheville, has become a critical issue. Flooding and contamination have left thousands without safe drinking water. Clean Water Corps and Waves for Water, in partnership with local organizations, is stepping up with a direct, on-the-ground response. Using portable water filtration systems, we’re working to restore access to clean water for affected communities—focusing on remote areas where infrastructure has been hit hardest. Here’s how we’re making it happen: - Deploying 500 water filters to families, shelters, and community centers - Training locals on how to use and maintain these systems - Partnering with community leaders to sustain long-term access to clean water This work isn’t just about immediate relief—it’s about building resilience with the tools to maintain water security for the long haul.  Any support goes a long way in helping the people of Asheville recover and rebuild. Meet Rachel Washburn, a remarkable CWC member whose journey has taken her from Military Intelligence officer to making a tangible impact on the ground. After graduating from Drexel University, Rachel served with the 3rd Infantry Division, taking on complex roles in challenging environments. Her dedication led her to the Cultural Support Team, where she worked alongside Special Forces in Afghanistan, collaborating with USAID, allied militaries, and NGOs. Rachel’s commitment to service didn’t end with her military career. Now, she’s channeling that same drive into bringing clean water to communities in need through the Clean Water Corps. This is Eladio Guevarra, Barangay Captain of Barangay Tugas in Tanjay, Negros Oriental, Philippines. Since childhood, Eladio faced the challenge of fetching water from a well 2.5 kilometers away, making three trips daily in the early hours. His dream was to ease this burden for his community, and as Barangay Captain, he made it a reality. Driven by his past hardships and the current struggle with El Niño, Eladio prioritized water access, creating an elevated water tank to ensure no one endures the same hardships he did. Earlier this year, we partnered with Eladio to bring 50 filtration systems to Tanjay, helping families who still face difficulties accessing clean water. Thank you to community champions like Eladio for your unwavering dedication and inspiring leadership that we can all learn from.  Help us continue supporting communities like Barangay Tugas by donating today. https://lnkd.in/gGfUpxK2 #WavesForWater #PeopleHelpingPeople #WaterForAll #WaterIsAHumanRight #CleanWaterForAll

Our recent trip to Ecuador’s Manta province was all about reconnecting with our roots at Waves For Water: Do what you love and help along the way.  Partnering with the incredible chef and surfer @rodrigopacheco_bocavaldivia, we implemented filters, trained local champions, and aimed to inspire future generations to continue the efforts of providing clean drinking water to those who need it. It was an honor to work alongside and share waves with Rodrigo. Big thanks to @dockerskhakis for supporting this initiative. The Tau’t Batu Tribe, also known as the ‘People of the Rock,’ is the last discovered tribe in the Philippines. Last June, in partnership with the Jesus V. Del Rosario Foundation @jvr_foundation we visited them in Palawan. On our first day, we held our filter implementation in Barangay Ransang, where we were given the opportunity to train the community how to use, build, and maintain the filters to ensure they last up to 10 years. On the second day, our teams visited the Tau’t Batu Tribe, which was a half-day walk from the Barangay Center to see their water source. The tribe members rely on water from springs or streams, which often becomes muddy during the rainy season, leading to illnesses like diarrhea. The nearest health center is a 7-kilometer walk away. Through our partnership with JVR Foundation, we helped provide clean water access to 117 households from the Tau’t Batu Tribe, in hopes that it will safeguard the health of the entire community. . . .
