WayForward housing stability programs are focused on eviction prevention and the financial assistance they provide are a lifeline to families who need the support to maintain stability and avoid the trauma of homelessness. Our programs have grown to meet the need in our community, which is driven by rising housing costs that have gone up here more than most places in the country. Our annual report is out and shows how much busier our food pantry was last year than the year before -- more than 115,000 visits in FIscal year 2024. Most people visit our pantry 1-2 times per month. We are doing our best to keep our pantry shelves and freezer stocked and ready for the line of people waiting outside for our doors to open each day. This is because of the generosity of people in our community. Your response to our request this summer for additional support to meet the increased need has made a difference. It’s not easy to say it, but the need is not going away. Every month here is busier than the one before. We’re going to have to continue to buy more food to meet that need. Having your ongoing support and knowing you’re with us and our neighbors means the world. We had a great discussion on Thursday evening at our event at the Middleton Public Library—Hunger Has No Home Here: Tackling Food Insecurity in Middleton. It was so great to see our community come together to address this significant issue. Thanks to panel participants: Lisa Janairo, City Alder; Dana Mogogue, Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District Superintendent; Jocelyne Sansing, Library Director; and Meghan Sohns, WayForward Resources Program Director for sharing their expertise and to panel facilitator Kristen Parent, Middleton Chamber of Commerce. We also had special guests from Middleton Meals Matter, a high school group making a difference here in Middleton.
