Helping People & Organizations Create and Manage Transformational Growth Opportunities

After 27 years in the military, stepping into civilian life is not just a transition; it’s diving headfirst into the deep end of an unfathomable pool of confusion. We’re often in the same cities, but let me tell you, the cultures feel like they’re on opposite sides of the universe. In the military, promoting yourself is like wearing a neon sign saying “look at me” when humility is the name of the game. But in the corporate world? That same humility gets tossed out the window. Suddenly, you need to sparkle and share your achievements as though they’re trophies on the mantelpiece, not just pieces of your journey. The Obstacles: Employment: Try spinning “I led a unit through hell” into corporate lingo that doesn’t have the HR folks scratching their heads. It’s like trying to explain quantum physics to someone who can barely balance a checkbook. They want buzzwords and polished resumes, while you’re reeling from the disconnect. Social Integration: You thought isolation was a challenge in combat? Wait until you find yourself in a room full of strangers who think team-building means forced fun at a ropes course. The bonds forged in battle don’t translate to casual Friday chats over coffee. You left the front lines, but now you’re fighting to build a new identity amidst persistent loneliness. Mental Health: They call it transition stress, but it feels like a whirlwind that hits harder than any enemy fire. While 72% of veterans feel it, that numbing statistic doesn’t account for the sleepless nights and the gnawing anxiety that creeps back. The ghosts of battle follow you home, lurking in the shadows of your new, quieter existence. The Lifeline (or What’s Left of It): Hope isn’t lost if you're willing to reach out. Organizations like Hire Heroes USA work tirelessly to shape veterans into something presentable for the corporate world. The VA offers its own brand of support, but it can sometimes feel like Band-Aids for festering wounds. TMS therapy? Sure, if you’re into futuristic fixes. But let’s get real. It’s time we create a world where veterans don’t have to claw for understanding. Where we face mental health challenges head-on, not tiptoe around them like they’re some dirty little secret. So I ask you: Are you in the trenches with us, helping veterans reclaim their purpose, or are you just watching from the sidelines? Let’s swap stories. Let’s hear the raw truths, the struggles, and the wins. We’re all in this together, after all. #Veterans #CivilianLifeMadness #MentalHealth #SupportOurHeroes #FromServiceToSuccess

    CEO of Intelsat

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Dikembe Mutombo whose humanitarian work in his home country of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and across Africa provided improved infrastructure and connectivity for thousands of people. He was on hand for our teleport inauguration in Kinshasa in 2021. I had the opportunity to work with Dikembe... his bright smile and big heart were truly something special. On behalf of the Intelsat team, we extend our thoughts and prayers to his family.

Rest in Peace, Dikembe Mutombo Today, we received the heartbreaking news that our dear friend, Dikembe Mutombo, passed away after his courageous battle with brain cancer. The "big man" will always hold a special place in our hearts for his generosity, kind spirit, and the warmth he shared with everyone he met. Just before his illness, Dikembe was honored with an ESPY Award (pictured below) for his remarkable contributions to humanity. The hospital he built in the DRC, now financially self-sufficient, stands as a proud symbol of his lasting legacy. He was deeply committed to bridging the gap for those without access, always giving back to his homeland. His partners at Intelsat knew him as a passionate advocate for the less fortunate. We will forever miss his big smile and infectious spirit. Rest in peace, dear friend. Your impact will live on and will never be forgotten. Our heartfelt condolences go out to your family. Eric M. Helping People & Organizations Create and Manage Transformational Growth Opportunities

Ever found yourself on the golf course, frantically searching for that lost golf ball while engaging in small talk with strangers? Inevitably, the question arises: "So, what do you do?" At WBMV Consulting, we stand at the decisive point between the military and private sectors. In military strategy, a “decisive point” is a critical moment, location, or event that provides a distinct advantage over the enemy. This concept resonates powerfully in the business landscape, where identifying key markets, optimal timing, and essential resources can make all the difference in achieving a competitive edge. While some may refer to these moments as “pivot points,” we believe decisive points signify true leverage that propels organizations forward. As a proud Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), we are dedicated to delivering successful outcomes for our clients across both sectors. Our mission is to foster mutually beneficial partnerships that create value for all stakeholders. “Sense of Purpose and maximize Profitability” By drawing on our unique experiences, we develop innovative solutions that drive growth and excellence, whether through cutting-edge technology or strategic consulting. Let’s connect and explore how we can turn decisive points into success stories together! #WBMVConsulting #VeteranOwned #Military #PrivateSector #Leadership #Innovation #StrategicPartnerships
