On World Hepatitis Day, we recognize the need for wider access to diagnosis and treatment for all Brooklyn residents. The Pan American Health Organization’s theme for this year is “Time For Action” – encouraging all of us to build awareness of available resources, including vaccines and medications. Our Street Outreach Mobile Unit reaches thousands of individuals across Brooklyn with on-the-spot mobile Hepatitis C testing and referrals to support systems. Treatment exists and prevention is possible! #wearebcs #WorldHepatitisDay #PAHO #streetoutreach #hepctesting

Meet Laysond, a participant in our Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) program. Laysond has attended group classes at PROS since 2005 and, more recently, he’s taken on new responsibilities as a peer tutor and doctors' assistant. He loves all the ways that PROS allows him to build his social skills and discover new hobbies like gardening! He hopes to one day use what he’s learned in PROS to get a job in maintenance or IT services. #wearebcs #BCSPROS

Say hello to Jack Qi, a teacher at the BCS Education Center in Sunset Park! He started tutoring at the Ed Center after graduating from Hunter College last year and has since become an instructor for the Center’s English as a Second Language courses. Jack has loved getting to know his students and see their progress in the classroom. “Many of my students come after work, or they are pregnant, or they have families, so they have their own life,” he says. “But still, they dedicate two hours to come to the Center time after time, day after day, and spend time with me.” Thank you to Jack and all our other Ed Center teachers for helping Brooklyn residents achieve their learning goals! #WeAreBCS #BCSEducationCenter #ESL #EnglishAsASecondLanguage #AdultEducation #SunsetPark #Brooklyn #NYCNonprofit #Community #Education
