This ongoing effort helps revive the oyster population and safeguard New York’s urban waterways. This year, the team tackled even more oyster shell mounds, constructing vital reef structures that will be installed in New York Harbor, playing a crucial role in restoring marine biodiversity and enhancing NYC’s natural defenses against storms. This volunteer experience reminded us how community-driven efforts can create long-lasting environmental change.
