In recognition of Suicide Prevention Month, it's inspiring to see the vital work being done by organizations like I Got Your Back Sacramento.
In 2018, 20 individuals in the Sacramento area's hospitality industry died by suicide. That same year, we also mourned the loss of the renowned chef and TV personality Anthony Bourdain, who took his own life. Join me this September in observing National Suicide Prevention Month. Let's honor the lives lost to suicide, support those who have experienced suicidal thoughts, and stand in solidarity with the individuals, families, and communities impacted by suicide. One remarkable nonprofit that emerged in response to these tragedies is 'I Got Your Back.' It's more than just an organization - it's a commitment. It's a pledge to unite in supporting colleagues and breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health and related issues. 'I Got Your Back' represents the idea that it's okay not to be okay, but it's not okay to stay that way. Thanks to all the #Sacramento stakeholders, from restauranteurs to healthcare providers, for supporting the nonprofit.
