About us

Weld County covers an area of 3,999 square miles in north central Colorado. It is bordered on the north by Wyoming and Nebraska and on the south by the Denver metropolitan area. The third largest county in Colorado, Weld County has an area greater than that of Rhode Island, Delaware and the District of Columbia combined. The climate is dry and generally mild with warm summers, mild winters and a growing season of approximately 138 days. The land surface is fairly level in the east, with rolling prairies and low hills near the western border. Elevations in the county range from 4,400 to 5,000 feet.

    The Weld County Department of Human Services' Organizational Integrity Division is searching for an Investigator. This individual will serve the department by reviewing/analyzing discrepancies and investigating allegations regarding potential public assistance program violations and/or fraud; compiling information gained through interviews with clients and collateral contacts, computer searches and other databases for analysis; following up on alleged discrepancies and work with applicants or recipients to resolve discrepancies in order to ensure that eligibility is determined correctly and benefits are issued appropriately; and assisting with internal projects including working reports, updating Colorado Benefits Management System information, or other assignments.     Weld County's Public Information Office is hiring a Communications Specialist to manage communication projects, oversee the implementation of those projects and analyze the measurable outcomes of said projects. You will be responsible for creating public information initiatives and campaigns on a variety of communication platforms for multiple divisions under the Department of Human Services programs, in order to assist divisions with reaching their program goals and objectives, as well as assisting the county overall reach the communication and public engagement goals as outlined in the county's strategic plan. You will be supervised by the county's Public Information Officer and will work directly with multiple division directors and department heads as well as provide support to the Weld County Board of Commissioners. Communications Specialists with the Public Information Office play a crucial role in building and maintaining a positive image of Weld County government through strategically building and managing public information regarding county projects and policies in a manner easily understood by and relatable to the public.     Karla Ford, Weld County Office Manager for the board of commissioners, doesn’t simply schedule meetings and pass paperwork to staff, she also oversees the county’s 20 boards and commissions. She’s proud to help facilitate volunteer opportunities for residents to give input and learn more about county services. It’s something she’s done for the past 10 years, and it’s garnered 212 volunteers. Serving on a board is a unique experience, she says, as people can gain inside access to decision-making process and how county government and its departments work.     The Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment (WCDPHE) proudly celebrated the official opening of its new Public Health Clinic with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Southeast Service Center, located at 2960 9th Street in Fort Lupton.
