Wells Enterprises, Inc. is the largest privately held, family-owned ice cream manufacturer in the United States. Founded in 1913 by Fred H. Wells when he purchased a horse, a delivery wagon, a few cans and jars, and the good will of a dairy business from a local dairy farmer in Le Mars, Iowa for a mere $250, the company is still proudly owned by the Wells family today.
