Fun in Construction isn't BBQ, beer or pizza party's....It's much deeper than that... Book update below:

Allow me to clarify what I mean by 'fun'...Book Progress Update: Making Construction Fun Again What would you typically say immediately after getting a cut from uncapped rebar? I would submit that it is not likely, "Eish, my shin is bleeding from a cut I got from that rebar over there that someone failed to cap! Can you take my tools, please, so I can assess and address my wound?" Nah. It's more likely some expletives that I would get flagged for if I were to post them all here on LinkedIn. "This isn't 'fun' anymore" is the equivalent of 'Ouch' or those expletives from getting cut by uncapped rebar. It is what is used and heard most often in casual conversations on our job sites and among construction comrades throughout the industry. 'Fun' in construction is that sense of pride, accomplishment, and camaraderie you earn from working relentlessly with your teams on very difficult yet rewarding projects. It's the fulfillment, achievement, and enjoyment you earn from perseverance, hard work, and fortitude year after year. It isn't necessarily job or title promotions but the self-assurance of your personal and professional growth and grit and team camaraderie that rewards you in ways that material and monetary methods never could (although these are always nice as a cherry on top). Making Construction Fun Again isn't about BBQs, beer, fake positivity, or ping pong tables. The book excavates and resonates a much deeper level to find the root and source and then provides some helpful tools and proposed solutions applicable to the findings to allow you the opportunity to reignite your love of the industry and find or reignite fulfillment, enjoyment, and 'fun' in your work. Lofty goal? Likely. Challenging? Absolutely! But luckily, I am not easily deterred from a challenge. Working in construction has provided many lessons and has contributed significantly to my persistence, patience, and determination. All of which I will use to do everything I can to support and help the fantastic individuals who work in our industry. You Got This! P.S. This book is still 'under construction'. It is expected to come out early-mid next year.

Another fun and fascinating construction find during my book research found in the November 1929 issue of American Builder: "Have you ever stopped to consider what stands between you and a big-pay job? Simply a lack of training on the 'Headwork' side of Building and Contracting- that's all!"  Superintendents made $5,000-12,000 yearly, Estimators $6,000-$10,000. These lessons would be mailed to you. It is the 1929's version of virtual, self-directed learning and development. Enjoy! You Got This!

Whether you are an executive of a small subcontractor looking to implement training or an HR director with an L&D department for a large organization, this micro-workshop is built for you. We look forward to seeing you there! https://lnkd.in/gTWpTx6X

"All honor must be paid to the architects of our material prosperity, to the great captains of industry who have built our factories and our railroads, to the strong men who toil for wealth with brain or hand; for great is the debt of the nation to these and their kind." - Theodore Roosevelt Happy Labor Day Weekend everyone. Well Works has you covered on the People Skills! Check out Beth Haselhorst at Media-Vox, Inc. for custom built training on our management skills. These have a lot of crossover and collaboration, both of which are critical to effectively and efficiently carryout our daily construction tasks.

While Well Works training focuses mainly on essential skills like communication, leadership, difficult conversations, Emotional Intelligence, etc., Beth Haselhorst creates and develops phenomenal management skills training like process (RFI's, Submittals, CO's) training for the construction industry. While management and leadership are typically muddled together and confused with one another, they are different and are both essential. No matter your role, title, or experience level, these two skills (along with the more easily identifiable physical/mechanical and technical skills) consistently work together to carry out daily construction tasks. Investing in developing each of these skills ensures we are well-rounded, adequately prepared, and equipped for the challenges of our projects and fantastic industry. If you haven't yet, I encourage you to check out her services at Media Vox. She does a wonderful job!

We would love to help you with any construction training challenges you may be encountering! Hope to see all your fantastic HR, L&D, and construction support members at this event. https://lnkd.in/g6mHEzP8
