Referring to child sexual abuse materials as "child pornography" downplays the true harm to children. These materials represent real abuse and can leave lasting emotional scars. Changing our language helps focus on the devastating impact on victims, who may be retraumatized each time the materials are shared or viewed. #EndChildAbuse #WordsMatter #CSAM #ProtectChildren

Today in France, a high-profile trial is unfolding involving a graphic artist, who worked on animated feature films for Pixar and Disney. Charged with complicity in rape and human trafficking, this man is alleged to have directed, paid for, and consumed the livestreamed rape of Filipino children ages 5 to 10 years old over a 9-year period. He is also charged with child sexual abuse material offenses. This shocking case brings about much-needed focus for protective digital safeguards. IJM urges financial institutions to strengthen their capacity to detect, report, and block suspicious financial transactions for child sexual exploitation. Tech companies—especially video-chat apps with live video products—must ensure they’re built safe by design to detect, disrupt, and block such horrific abuse. Such robust and immediate action will keep online spaces safe and shield vulnerable children from live rape. https://lnkd.in/gG5s83e7
