5 Ways Educators Can Supercharge Their STEAM Curriculum: Music & Math Mashups: Integrate music into math lessons by having students compose songs using different fractions or ratios, demonstrating the connection between rhythm and math. Science Sculpture: Engage students with 3D models of molecular structures, bridges, or constellations using various craft materials. Incorporate the science of sound by letting them sculpt sound waves, blending physics and visual arts. Biology & Botanical Art: Combine biology with art by having students create detailed botanical illustrations, enhancing their understanding of plant anatomy while fostering creativity. STEAM Animation Projects: Use stop-motion animation to help students explain scientific concepts like planetary motion or cell division, perfect for visual and hands-on learners. Literary Science Diaries: Encourage students to write and illustrate diary entries from the perspective of a famous scientist or engineer, blending history, art, and storytelling. #STEMLearning #HandsOnLearning #ArtInSTEAM #STEAMAhead #EducatorResources #STEMEducator

For the 5th year, we’ve teamed up with the Boch Center to bring a few of their talented teens from the City Spotlights Teen Leadership Program to perform at our annual summer program. These performances, created by the teens themselves, empower our students to use their talents to be leaders in their schools and neighborhoods. It's one of the most anticipated events of our Summer Learning Academies -- proving that the arts and STEM go hand in hand. Thank you again to the Boch Center and these talented teens for making this experience an unforgettable one. #ArtsInEducation #EmpowerThroughCreativity #SummerLearningAcademy #YouthPerformers #ArtsAndScience #TalentedTeens #BostonArts

Art and AI are where our students thrive! Thanks to our collaboration with MIT Media Lab, our middle and high schoolers spent a week using AI to create beautiful works of art. Our upper-level students tackled questions about ethics in tech while using generative AI to express their creativity. Click through these photos to check out their final projects! We’re incredibly proud of what our students accomplished in such a short time. A special thank you to Safinah Ali and the team at MIT Media Lab who made this week of learning possible!
