At WestEd, our people are central to our mission, and this is a difficult moment that raises uncertainty for many. Read an update about the impact of recent funding cuts from WestEd CEO Jannelle Kubinec below.
Like many organizations, WestEd has had to make difficult choices to adjust to recent funding cuts. This includes reducing our workforce by 6%. The 63 talented people affected are dedicated professionals who have contributed to our mission and enriched our community. I have no doubt they will continue to be valuable contributors and colleagues at any organization fortunate enough to hire them. We remain strongly committed to our partners and clients as we work to positively impact children, schools, and communities. To all who are departing, I offer my deepest thanks and appreciation. On behalf of our entire organization, thank you for your significant contributions and the lasting impact you've made.

WestEd Sr. Policy Advisor Jason Willis shares perspective about how to improve California’s school funding formula to support student success. Check out today's EdSource article: https://bit.ly/4iB3nZP ⭐ Top Takeaways ⭐ The Local Control Funding Formula must be more responsive to enrollment trends to ensure funds serve the high-needs students for whom they are targeted, rather than filling gaps in the district budget. Policymakers must create incentives for districts to improve coordination and merging of services for students with multiple needs. In making adjustments to the formula, policymakers must avoid introducing too many new, disparate factors that can further burden school systems. Check out the article for more insights and guidance to improve decision-making! #SchoolFinance #LCFF #Education
