Did you know that for the first time ever, women account for over a quarter of AIA's total membership? As a women-owned firm, we love to hear it! WhiteSpace Architects Principals Laura and Laurel, shown in the first slide with AIA National President Kimberly Dowdell, AIA, NOMAC, visited Chicago earlier this month for the AIA Women’s Leadership Summit. It's a premier leadership experience that brings together the industry’s largest network of women who are breaking down barriers, making themselves visible, and manifesting the careers they want — while making a difference in the world.  #womeninarchitecture #aiawomensleadershipsummit #womenleaders

An architect’s hand-drawn sketch is more than lines on paper — it’s the beginning of a journey, translating a client’s vision into a built reality. This sketch of the Molokai Ranch Lodge, once a haven on the island of Molokai, reflects a deep respect for the island’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. From the wrap-around verandas to the greenhouse herb garden, each detail preserves the spirit of this special place. ✍️ #ArchitectureSketch #ConceptualDesign #HawaiiArchitecture

Since 2005, World Architecture Day has been celebrated on the first Monday of October to recognize the profound influence of architecture on our environment and highlight the crucial contributions of architects and designers. This day underscores how careful planning and design can address structural, artistic, sustainable, and social challenges in our cities. WhiteSpace Architects is proud of the mark we've made on buildings and homes across Hawaii. We deeply appreciate your trust and are committed to consistently creating timeless, thoughtful, and purposeful structures in our beautiful islands. #worldarchitectureday #worldarchitectureday2024

Meet the WhiteSpace Architects office manager, Felice Geoghegan! 🎨 Best place to shop for local art: Any of the local farmer's markets. I always find something unique and beautiful, and I love the idea that the sale price goes directly to the artist. 🍽️ My favorite restaurant: Roy's Hawaii Kai 🐶 Where you'll find me on my day off: Either baking, reading, taking care of my plants, or spending time with my family, and if I still have extra time then a hike. 🏋🏻♀️ My preferred way to work out: Either at the gym, going on a hike, or a long walk on the beach. 🍣 Little-known fact about me: Give me a bat or a ball and I can play most sports, but do not ask whe to do a cartwheel or handstand because I will fall over. 🌅 My favorite place to watch the sunrise or sunset: My favorite place to see the sunrise is at the top of Hanauma Bay Ridge and my favorite place to see the sunset would be sitting on Hapuna Beach on the Big Island. 🏠 My favorite WhiteSpace Architects Project: My favorite project, Niuiki Circle, was one that had already started when I joined WhiteSpace Architects in 2019. Niuiki Circle is located in East Honolulu and was designed by Pip. The house has sweeping views from Koko Head to Diamond Head, and I love that the house is so open and airy. It allows you to not only enjoy the view, but also take advantage of the wonderful trade winds and has so much natural light. It also has that wow factor kitchen - a great layout that allows you to interact with family and friends, and you can't beat baking with a view like that. Also, the clients were wonderful to work with.

Meet our newest project, the Mānoa residence – a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity ✨ . The design nestles into the neighborhood and its modest scale. We achieved this by stepping-back the two-story sections from the street, blending-in the garage and carport, and incorporating traditional materials such as board & batten, stucco, and breeze-blocks , complemented by modern touches such as: basalt tiles and an ocean blue standing seam roof. Working with this kama'aina family was truly a privilege! About a decade ago, our designs transformed the over 30-year-old former Hard Rock Café into a modern immersive coffee experience. Swipe to see what it looked like before. From the central Demonstration Area with its custom-built vintage roaster to the Cupping Lab inspired by a modern apothecary, the Experience Center breathed new life into a once neglected site, winning us the 2016 BIA Overall Grand Award for Commercial Remodeling. Buildings are special, because every new owner and every renovation can bring new life.🐔 #hawaiinews #honolulucoffee #newrestaurant
