Today is World Mental Health Day 2024, and this year's theme is Mental Health at Work. As you may already know, we offer our staff a 'Self-Invest Day' and 'Self-Investment Fund' to explore their hobbies and take time to focus on endeavours that they are interested in. Our Senior Marketing Executive, Lottie, recently used her 'Self-Invest Day' to take a calligraphy course with London Calligraphy. ✍️ "I've always been interested in trying out calligraphy, but I wasn't expecting the mindfulness and serenity of the activity. With each pen stroke, you pause, and then breathe out as you write. It cleared my mind, and I left feeling completely blissed out. While I don't think I'll be following a calling in calligraphy any time soon, it taught me something even more valuable - taking time to breathe, and the joy of being a beginner at something." Taking care of your mental health is essential to each employee, as an individual, and as part of a team. Speak to your colleagues if you need support - and if you can, take time to try something different, just for you. #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthAtWork #SelfCare #MentalHealthMatters

From the deepest depths of the seas, across the polar regions to the highest mountains and even into space, if a place exists, it is now fair game for tourism. “Frontier tourism” is often thought of as an exclusive and prohibitively expensive form of extreme adventure travel. However, interest in places that weren’t previously on tourists’ radars can be beneficial. As Michael Pullman from Wild Frontiers Adventure Travel explains, frontier tourism is increasingly important to some of the poorest communities across the globe. On Wednesday, our newly formed ‘Carbon Academy’ (consisting of our Head of Sustainable Travel, Nardia, Ops Manager Natasha, Product Manager Marianne, Group Sales expert Olivia and Senior Marketing Executive, Lottie) headed to Google HQ to take part in a Carbon Literacy Training Day. Still riding high from our recent B Corp accreditation, it was perfect timing for a few representatives from different departments to become more ‘carbon literate’, and feel more confident communicating our sustainability message and encouraging our business and wider team to make more carbon conscious decisions. Hosted by The Conscious Travel Foundation, and workshop run by Charlie and Helen from the excellent ecollective, the day focused on how both individuals and businesses can reduce their carbon emissions and why this is more important than ever - with specific focus and examples from a tour operator perspective. We ended the session making pledges on what actions we will take to reduce our carbon emissions as a company, and what our personal contribution will be, and we all left feeling invigorated and determined to do what we can to help Wild Frontiers continue to work towards a greener future for all 💚 A huge thank you to the Conscious Travel Foundation, the staff at Google HQ, and to Charlie & Helen for an informative and empowering day, filled with mind-bending stats and case studies, but more importantly, a clear path to each make a difference moving forward. One of our biggest takeaways was the importance of your sustainability journey being about progress, not perfection. Any small change can ripple into larger impact, and influence those around you to make positive changes. So if you or your team are ‘carbon curious’, we couldn’t recommend these sessions any more enthusiastically! #SustainableTravel #ResponsibleTravel #CarbonTraining #CarbonLiteracy

A great day of learning (a.k.a being confronted by some scary truths followed by plenty of hope and action planning!) as members and friends of The Conscious Travel Foundation came together at Google HQ in London for a day of Carbon Literacy Training, hosted by the brilliant team at ecollective. For those unfamiliar, Carbon Literacy Training equips individuals and organisations with a deeper understanding of how our everyday actions, and those of our businesses, impact carbon emissions. For travel businesses, this knowledge is crucial to help us make informed decisions to minimise our footprint on the planet, and Charlie, Helen and the ecollective team have developed an industry specific course as part of The Carbon Literacy Project. A huge thank you to the Google team for hosting us today - particularly Gracie Levy and Ella Keady who were so hospitable but also put us through our paces with some great questions! Now comes the time to make your plans and pledges - good luck to the teams from Journeys With Purpose , Joro Experiences , The Dovetail Agency, BozAround Private Travel and Wild Frontiers Adventure Travel 🌍✈️ 🌱 #SustainableTravel #CarbonLiteracy #ConsciousTravel

ANNOUNCEMENT! 📣📣📣 Wild Frontiers is officially a Certified B Corp! We're thrilled to be a part of the B Corp community of businesses that are committed to a responsible and ethical future. At Wild Frontiers, we have always believed that sustainable and community-focused travel can be a powerful force for good, breaking down barriers and bringing people from different cultures and communities together. Achieving B Corp certification was the natural next step in continuing our existing and ongoing commitment. "B Corp Certification is well-respected and reflects our long-term commitment to ensuring our entire business and our team operate ethically and with the preservation of the communities and destinations our clients visit,” Clare Tobin, Managing Director The process involved a rigorous assessment that evaluated our impact across five key areas - governance, workers, community, environment and customer. Led by our Head of Sustainable Travel, Nardia Sullivan, the path to certification has been an adventure of a different kind for the Wild Frontiers team, and we are all excited to see where it takes us next.
