Friday updates from HIFOR ⬇
Some thoughts for your Friday: 💰 The GBF calls for the mobilization of at least $200 billion per year in domestic and international biodiversity-related funding from all sources – public and private by 2030. 🌳 There are 750 million hectares of high integrity tropical forests which provide global, regional, and local ecosystems services that we all benefit from. ⭐ Modestly (very modestly), the value of high integrity tropical forest areas is US$30/ha annually (this really only takes into account the social cost of carbon). 🦋 For US$22.5 billion dollars a year (or 11% of the GBF goal) we could protect ALL of the high integrity tropical forests and the ecosystem services they provide (climate regulation, climate cooling rainfall, biodiversity maintenance, pollination, etc.) across the globe as well as supporting the stewards of those forests. 🍬 The global gum industry is valued at US$38.6 billion and growing. 💡 Global gum industry US$38.6 billion vs. US$22.5 billion dollars for all high integrity tropical forests. ❓ What do you think? #naturalcapital #biodiversity #sustainableinvesting #finance #sustainablefinance #nature #climateaction
