The Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center (RERC) on Wireless Technologies at the University of Pittsburgh was established in October 2021. Our RERC titled PROMISE aims to promote accessibility and inclusivity of mainstream wireless technologies (such as: smartphones, smart home devices, smart speakers, and wearables) in people with disabilities.

The robots are coming home! 🏠 Meet Stretch 3 from Hello Robot Inc! This is a robot designed to handle different tasks in our households. Due to its lightweight and compact design (33x34x141 cm), it can reach places in homes that matter and even operate outdoors. Stretch 3 comes equipped with a computer, sensors, software, and a gripper that can handle 2 kg of payload (most of the stuff from our houses - feel free to share what it cannot handle!) 🏋🏼 The robot has a run-time of 2-5 hours which helps it complete most of its activities without having to break. It enables to manipulate objects autonomously or under manual control, semi-autonomous operation, or deep perception tasks. The price tag: 25 000 $! 💸 P.S.
