Your API dependencies are slowing you down. Accelerate releases by mocking the APIs you depend on.
About us
WireMock Cloud optimizes developer productivity in an API dependent environment. By allowing developers to mock and virtualize APIs they depend on, WireMock empowers teams to reduce dependencies, thereby improving development productivity, facilitating parallel development, and accelerating time to market.

The latest Tech Radar makes for interesting reading, as ever. There were two blips that stood out for me: firstly "Enterprise-wide integration test environments" in Techniques/Hold. I agree totally with this - it's often the biggest source of friction in developers' outer loop. Even when new code can be written quickly it's then stuck in a queue to be tested in an over-contended, unstable environment. The other was "Component testing" in Techniques/Adopt, which is arguably the primary solution to the above problem. What's not mentioned in the Radar text is that for component testing to be possible it's necessary to isolate the component being tested, which in the vast majority of cases means mocking APIs it depends on. This gives rise to another potential issue - how to produce and maintain reliable mock APIs at scale without them becoming sources of technical debt and engineer toil. Given the quantity of individual components (services) in many enterprise systems today, having a mature API mocking approach and toolset has never been more important.
The latest Thoughtworks Technology Radar Vol. 31 highlights major shifts in AI, deployment practices, and testing strategies. AI-driven tools like LLM-powered agents and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) offer: - Powerful automation potential - Improved code insights and understanding Cautions raised by the Radar include: - Over-reliance on AI, especially for tasks like pair programming - Inefficiencies in enterprise-wide test environments Key focus on balancing innovation with proven practices, such as: - Continuous deployment for quick and reliable updates - 1% canary releases to safely test features before full rollout AI impact is clear in transforming: - Workflows and team productivity - Code comprehension, especially in complex systems Success depends on careful adoption of new tools, strong testing practices, and maintaining collaboration and code quality. Adopt: Ready to Use Today - 1% Canary: Roll out updates to just 1% of users for fast feedback and lower risk. - Continuous Deployment: Automatically push updates that pass tests straight to production. - Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG): Improve AI responses by adding relevant info from documents to reduce mistakes. - Visual Regression Testing: Tools to catch UI bugs with smarter, AI-driven visual tests. - Testcontainers: Easily create isolated test environments for reliable testing. Trial: Worth Trying Out - Domain Storytelling: A way to map out and understand complex systems through visual storytelling. - Synthetic Data: Generate data for testing and training AI models when real data is limited. - GenAI for Legacy Code: Use AI to understand and improve old, undocumented codebases. - LinearB: Tools to help streamline development workflows and improve team efficiency. Assess: Keep an Eye On - LLM-Powered Agents: AI agents that work together to perform tasks, but still need refinement. - Observability 2.0: Better monitoring by collecting more detailed event data across systems. - Devbox: Simplifies development environments, letting developers spin up isolated workspaces quickly and cleanly. - OpenBCI Galea: Brain-computer interfaces are advancing, combining VR and AI for new possibilities. - Software Engineering Agents: AI that helps with tasks like debugging and code reviews. - shadcn: A new UI library making web components more customizable and accessible. Hold: Proceed with Caution - Enterprise-Wide Test Environments: Avoid large, shared test environments—they’re slow and unreliable. Use smaller, ephemeral environments instead. - Replacing Pair Programming with AI: AI can help, but it’s not a true replacement for human collaboration and knowledge sharing in pair programming. #TechRadar #AI #ContinuousDeployment #GenerativeAI #SoftwareTesting #Thoughtworks #LLMAgents
