Don’t become another resume in the pile. Landing a great job is just a connection away. These 2 networking templates got me my last couple of jobs. I recommend it to all my coaching clients and friends. And it's helped them land jobs at companies like Google, OpenAI, and Microsoft this year. --- Template #1 What I sent to my network (people I already knew): Subject: Connect soon? Hi [name], [Personalize this part: “I noticed that you shared on LinkedIn some interesting projects that your company is working on” or “How have you been?! Looks like you've been crushing it at your new job...”] I’m currently using this time to think about my next career move and reconnect with people in my network. I'm exploring opportunities in [company/role/industry]. I’d love to catch up and hear about your experience working at [company] in the [job title] role. Would you be open to chatting over the next couple weeks? --- Template #2 For Cold Outreach (people at my target companies) Subject: [personalize — e.g. “Your LinkedIn post on entrepreneurial thinking”] Hi [Name], [Personalize here on why you’re reaching out — e.g. “I read your LinkedIn post encouraging employees to think like entrepreneurs. This resonated with me since I’m interested in working at organizations that embrace this mindset, where individuals can contribute to the overall mission beyond their specific job role.”] Here are some examples of where I’ve been able to do that in my career: - [Accomplishment/Skill #1 — e.g. Led our new channel efforts to build out a new partner network at x company, delivering $1.5M in incremental revenue in 2023 across 8 online channels] - [Accomplishment/Skill #2] - [Accomplishment/Skill #3] I’m interested in [company/role/industry] and would love to learn about your experience, the current projects you're working on, and share how I could potentially help the team. Would you be open to a 20-minute virtual coffee chat over the next couple of weeks? If it’s not a good time, I completely understand. Either way, I hope you have a great rest of the week! --- Tweak as needed to make it your own. Always personalize. If people don't respond don't be discouraged. Most people never got back to me. But the handful who did made it all worth it. --- Reshare ♻ to help others with their job search. And follow me for more posts like this.
