Texas, we loved bringing Gen 6 to you! ✈️ Over 100 government and infrastructure leaders joined us this week to celebrate Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in the State of Texas. We talked about how AAM and Air Taxis can unlock incredible opportunities for Texas – think new jobs, faster transportation, and a stronger economy. A special thanks to Senator Tan Parker and Representative David L. Cook for their support and leadership proposing #AAM legislation that will help Texas continue leading in aviation for decades to come. We also had the opportunity to welcome talented The University of Texas at Austin aerospace engineering students for a visit with the aircraft and our Houston VR Flight Experience. Their enthusiasm for autonomous flight was contagious! 🤘 Huge thank you to our partners at Boeing, SkyGrid, City of Sugar Land, TX, Houston Airport System, Port San Antonio, and the North Central Texas Council of Governments for making this week such a success. Cash plays a crucial role in integrating our Gen 6 aircraft into the broader airspace system. He focuses on designing procedures that align with regulatory requirements, ensuring our autonomous aircraft operate safely alongside existing traffic. Before Wisk, Cash worked at the Pentagon, managing a portfolio of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) for the Department of Defense, from small to large drones. Michael Ceriello, an Aerodynamic Engineer at Wisk, caught up with Howard Hardee to talk about the work we do at the Boeing V/STOL Wind Tunnel (BVWT) in Philadelphia. 💨 In the tunnel, a subscale Wisk aircraft is put through various aerodynamic tests, all powered by a 39ft fan. The data we collect here feeds directly into the design of our Gen 6 aircraft and our simulation models. This week we hosted SkyGrid, a Boeing joint venture, in the Wisk Autonomy Lab to showcase how SkyGrid’s data and decision support capabilities can seamlessly integrate into Wisk's autonomous operations. For Advanced Air Mobility to take off, we need advanced airspace integration tools, and this collaboration with SkyGrid helps us support the rigorous validation of systems required to deliver safe and scalable certified autonomous air travel. Ongoing planning continues with NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration who also observed the demo, for joint Advanced Air Mobility testing. It was really fun to host Massachusetts Institute of Technology MIT AeroAstro unified class students at Wisk last week! This is the greatest time in history to be an engineer. We talked about the tech that enables autonomous electric aircraft like our Gen 6, and how those technologies will influence aircraft of all sizes and types.
