Happy Birthday to the US Navy! Thank you to the brave men and women who serve our country and special thanks to the service members who also serve in the WSP!
Today, the U.S. Navy celebrates 249 years of being "America's Warfighting Navy" since its establishment on Oct. 13, 1775. With nearly 100 ships and submarines operating worldwide, our commitment to protecting the American way of life remains steadfast from the seabed to space. Please help us congratulate Sergeant Gary Helgerson as he retires after nearly 26 years of dedicated service! Gary worked over seven years with the City of La Crosse Housing Authority before joining the 49th Recruit Class in 1999. Gary served as a firearms instructor, pilot, field training officer, regional sergeant and, most recently, a sergeant in the Dignitary Protection Unit. Congratulations Gary and enjoy your next chapter!

The WSP’s Wellness Committee is dedicated to creating a wellness program for all WSP employees. The committee has been diligently working on several initiatives to educate and provide resources for all staff on all dimensions of wellness. Through October, the wellness committee is conducting the Superintendent’s Fitness Challenge. This voluntary program encourages staff to complete 840 minutes of moderate fitness activity. The goal is to have fun, get active, and assist with improving individual physical fitness while engaging in friendly competition. #NationalFamilyHealthAndFitnessDay
