Zimi (YC S24) is building Fulfillment by Amazon for exporters in emerging markets. They help merchants deliver to their international buyers in 2 days instead of 2 weeks, and for a fraction of the cost— typically 80% cheaper. Cross-border e-commerce will be a $2 trillion opportunity by 2030, with 64% of that expected to come from emerging markets across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. However, merchants in these regions face major challenges like high shipping costs, lengthy delivery times, and complex logistics. Zimi solves these problems by localizing inventory, handling customs clearance and last-mile delivery, and streamlining the returns process. Their turnkey solution makes selling internationally as easy as selling locally. Founders Audrey Djiya and Peter Nsaka met in graduate school at Stanford, bonding over the successful entrepreneurs who inspired them (like Audrey's great-grandmother Zimi). After enabling commerce at companies like Shopify, they're now on a mission to empower the next generation of merchants in emerging markets, unlocking billions in revenue by making global commerce accessible. Congrats on the launch, Audrey and Peter! 🚀 https://lnkd.in/gkC58pYe

    CEO & Co-Founder @ Zimi (YC S24) | Stanford MBA | Growing Exports

I named our startup Zimi after my great-grandmother (pictured left). She was a hustler. After leaving her husband and striking out on her own with her kids, she knew she had to make a plan to keep food on the table and a roof over her family’s head. Fast. Through her entrepreneurial spirit and quick wits, she opened stores throughout Cameroon. My dad even worked at one location when he was young. After a while, Zimi’s grandson started informally exporting goods in a suitcase from Cameroon to the U.S. and France. Our startup Zimi (YC S24) honors my great-grandmother’s resourcefulness and determination. These are qualities that we find in abundance across Africa and other emerging markets in hustlers like my great-grandma. In her name, we want to make “suitcase exports” a thing of the past. Global commerce can be more accessible for African businesses with affordable, speedy and simple export pathways from Africa to the world. Zimi creates opportunities for other African business owners like my great-grandmother who have big vision and big ambition. Know any resilient business owners? We’re building Zimi to help them scale globally. Tag them below or send a message, I’d love to get in touch/hear from you
