WELLNESS WATCH The Philippines currently welcomes around 250,000 health and wellness tourists annually for treatments like medical procedures, dental care and wellness retreats. The country aims to boost this number to half a million or even one million in the coming years. WELLNESS WATCH We're here to set the record straight ... A recent report from Trip.com Group reveals that while 92% of travelers consider sustainable travel, only 56.9% are actively practicing it. Why? Many are still uncertain about what "sustainable" really means and are unsure how it can improve their travel experience. There are clear ways to make travel more sustainable such as carbon off-setting, choosing eco-friendly accommodations and reducing single-use plastics. WELLNESS WATCH Ready to be duped into staying on a floating iceberg hotel during your next vacation? Veranda predicts five major luxury travel trends to look out for in 2025. These include an up-tick in solo female travel, the rise of cruising (particularly yacht and expedition cruises), the popularity of cooler destinations due to climate change, interest in "dupe" destinations that avoid over-tourism and the evolving wellness travel trend (we aren't exactly surprised that wellness made the list). Wellness travel now heavily focuses on sleep, cognitive health, disease prevention and longevity and offers more personalized retreats that combine luxury with holistic care. Wellness travel is expanding significantly to encompass activities like spa treatments, yoga retreats, meditation centers and nature-based vacations according to a new report by IMARC Group. Spa resorts are adding packages beyond traditional treatments such as detox and holistic programs to help people de-stress and get away from their screens. Hotels are incorporating nature activities, cultural experiences and educational classes to lure wellness travelers. The reason to stay ahead of the curve is that the leisure travel market is on track to reach $1.64 trillion by 2032, driven by increasing demand for these sorts of personalized experiences. The report offers that this growth is fueled by higher disposable incomes, the desire by younger generations to spend on experiences over physical items and tech improvements which make finding a perfect niche destination possible.
