🌟 Boosting Emotional Intelligence (EQ) for Professional Success 🌟 👉What is Emotional Intelligence? EQ is the ability to recognize, understand, and manage not only your own emotions but also the emotions of others. It involves five key components: 💠 Self-awareness 💠 Self-regulation 💠 Motivation 💠 Empathy 💠 Social skills 👉Why is EQ Important? In the LBM industry and beyond, EQ is crucial for: 💠Building stronger relationships 💠 Enhancing communication 💠Navigating conflict with ease 💠Leading with empathy and resilience 👉 How to Improve Your EQ: 1️⃣ Practice mindfulness – Regular reflection helps increase self-awareness. 2️⃣ Seek feedback – Ask colleagues for insight into how you handle emotional situations. 3️⃣ Develop active listening skills – Listen to understand, not just respond. 4️⃣ Respond, don’t react – Practice self-regulation by pausing before you respond emotionally. 5️⃣ Invest in empathy – Make an effort to understand others' perspectives. Vice President, Sales & Marketing with a passion for Industrial/Organizational Psychology in the workplace.

I had the honor of moderating a panel last week at the LBM strategies conference. My panel was called, "Chess versus checkers- how to win at the people strategy game". Our discussion leaned into the psychology of why people do what they do, and how you can leverage that knowledge to build a better workplace. If you're not paying attention to your people, someone else will. And, if you're losing good people, you can pretty much bet you're playing checkers. I want to take a minute and thank Amber, Dana, and Lindsey for their time to make this panel as insightful as we could. #lbmstrategies2024, Amber Little Dana Cowart Lindsey DiGangi CPCU, ARM, ARe
