About us

Leading Local Broadcast affiliate in Madison, Wisconsin. WMTV signed on the air in July 1953 on channel 33 and was an affiliate of ABC, DuMont, and NBC. In 1956, WMTV became solely an NBC affiliate. In 2002, Gray Television purchased WMTV from Benedek Broadcasting. In 2016, WMTV built a new state-of-the-art broadcast facility on its existing property. New technology and multiple studios allow for continued growth in news and entertainment programming. Currently, WMTV's digital signal has six subchannels; 15.1 (NBC), 15.2 (CW), 15.3 (AntennaTV), 15.4 (MeTV), 15.5 (StartTV), and 15.6 (WeatherNation). We produce 38 local news hours each week (airing on NBC and CW).
