Thank you to all who joined us at the Health Equity in Action Symposium. Together, we engaged in truly inspiring conversations about the challenges and opportunities in advancing health equity. As we continue to absorb and reflect on yesterday's events, a quote sticks with us from Dr. Anh Thang Dao-Shah during the How Systems Can Champion Change Panel: "Quality healthcare without equity, isn't quality at all." Yesterday, we were reminded that when we uplift and stand with one another, our collective impact grows. Each of us plays a role in building a healthcare system that truly serves everyone. If we work together, we can break down barriers, amplify voices, and push for lasting change. Thank you so much to our Speakers and Panelists who generously gave their time and expertise: Kathleen Antonia T., Amy Alanes-Bryant, Karimah Omer, MBA, Grace Deyanna, Skye Ward, M Anne Mitchell, Dana Dornsife, Darcie Green, Dr. Kim Felder Rhoads, MD, MS, MPH, FACS, Rhonda M. Smith, Dolores Moorehead, MS, APCC, Maria de los Angeles Marín, Melissa Mazor, Karen Revelli, John Gouws, Anh Thang D., Jane Stafford, Mini Swift, Angi Fisher, Tina Werblin And to our Sponsors, whose support made our event possible: Exelixis, John Muir Health, Alameda Health System, UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, Epic Care - Partners in Comprehensive Care, and our generous host sponsor Northeastern University - Oakland

WCRC improves equitable access to cancer information, support and care.
About us
The Women’s Cancer Resource Center (WCRC) improves equitable access to cancer information, support and care. WCRC offers services to any person with any type of cancer, with a focus on those who are low-income, people of color, and members of the queer/trans community. WCRC staff have long observed that cancer often is not the greatest concern for the low-income and marginalized individuals in our client population. Limited access to primary health care, inadequate health services and financial resources, language and cultural barriers, racism, low literacy, fear, and mistrust of medical systems contribute to late diagnosis and earlier death, especially for African American, Latinx, and all other groups of low-income women diagnosed with cancer. WCRC provides a set of comprehensive, coordinated services that include cancer navigation, peer support, information and referral, and wellness programs to mitigate these problems for people with limited access to essential, life-giving care. WCRC is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization. All of our services are FREE and we are funded 100% by charitable giving. Our federal tax ID is 94-3131204.

The Women's Cancer Resource Center joins the chorus of voices celebrating the new FDA guideline going into effect today requiring healthcare providers to inform patients about their breast density when sharing mammogram results. This is a momentous step in patient self-advocacy, as higher breast density not only makes cancer harder to detect but is also a known risk-factor for developing cancer. With this new information, women can be better informed about their individual risk and have better discussions with their healthcare providers about screenings that are right for them! 🎗️ Read more at https://lnkd.in/gEkBSF-v
