The official grand opening of our Arlene Thorpe Townhomes marks an important step forward in ensuring Philadelphians that need it most have access to permanently affordable, accessible housing. We celebrated the occasion with a ribbon cutting event that brought together the many partners who made this development possible. That includes Council President Kenyatta Johnson, the Philadelphia Housing Authority, the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency , the City of Philadelphia Department of Planning and Development, and, of course, members of our COMMUNITY. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from real voices who are immediately impacted by the availability of this permanently affordable housing. We were also honored to be joined by relatives of Ms. Arlene Thorpe, a pillar of the King’s Village section of the Grays Ferry neighborhood, who the townhomes are named after. Another note of thanks to our partners at Regional Housing Legal Services, CICADA Architecture/Planning, Inc., Domus Inc, Stone Sherick Consulting Group, LLC., Eustace Engineering, J&M Engineering, Innova, and Land Service US. The Arlene Thorpe townhomes mark WCRP’s 13th affordable housing development in Philadelphia and we look forward to continuing our strategy to prevent residents from being displaced in rapidly gentrifying areas all over the city.
