Italian luxury brand Stone Island and its achievements in material innovation are being spotlighted at Holt Renfrew Ogilvy in Montreal. “Material Research ‘984 – ‘024,” an archival exhibition showcasing rare, influential and iconic pieces from the Stone Island archive will be staged inside the recently refurbished Tudor Hall event space at Holt Renfrew Ogilvy in Montreal from Oct. 17 to Oct. 27. Stone Island has selected five items from Holt Renfrew’s fall 2024 and has paired them with the archival items that directly inspired their design. The exhibit celebrates more than four decades of Stone Island’s material innovation. Stone Island launched in 1982 but since there are not items on display from 1982, the exhibit’s title reflects the oldest piece in the exhibit, which is from 1984. Kim Jones and Fendi are parting ways after an eventful four-vear collaboration that saw the Roman house dabble with collaborations, and destination shows. The British designer, whose title at Fendi was artistic director of haute couture, ready-to-wear and fur collections for women, is to continue in his role as artistic director of men's collections at Dior in Paris. Amerikas, a beauty products distributor, has acquired the vegan, cruelty-free and natural skin care brand Skyn Iceland from a group of French and Swiss investors. Financial terms of the deal, which was made through Amerikas’ new investment branch, were not disclosed. Amerikas plans to lend Skyn Iceland its know-how in distribution and brand acceleration. Online sustainability platform Good On You, which counts Emma Watson as a supporter, is expanding into beauty. “There’s a bigger story to be told about the conditions in which our clothes are made, the resources that have been used and the impact they’ve had on communities. Good on You is my benchmark for sustainable fashion,” the actress said of the company in 2019. The website, which previously only rated clothing labels for sustainability and ethics, has launched a new beauty vertical that rates brand ethics using publicly provided data. Billy Reid has a lot to celebrate this fall. Not only is the designer marking the 20th anniversary of his eponymously named label, he’s also bringing back his popular Shindig festival after a five-year hiatus. Shindig, a fashion, music, food and art event Reid hosted annually in his hometown of Florence, Ala., until it was forced to pause because of the pandemic, will also serve as a celebration of his two-decade milestone with a runway show featuring his newest collections as well as a few of his greatest hits. While he’s ready to celebrate now, Reid’s road to 20 was hardly without its pitfalls. After abandoning the idea of being a football coach, he enrolled at the Art Institute of Dallas where he studied fashion design and merchandising. Another cornerstone of Etro’s lifestyle proposition is being set with the brand’s first residential project. The Milan-based luxury company has inked a partnership with Rams Global to design the interiors of the Tower Rams Beyond in Istanbul, Turkey. “Etro has had a solid foothold in home and interiors for years, but for the first time, it is now debuting in the branded residences segment,” said Fabrizio Cardinali, chief executive officer of Etro, at the company’s Milan headquarters. Zara is on a celebrity fashion streak, tapping Kate Moss as its latest collaborator for a series of high-profile capsules and other projects. The Zara x Kate Moss collection will launch on Nov. 30 and comprise ready-to-wear and accessories meant for big nights out. The collection has been styled by Katy England. Giorgio Armani will be making a rare appearance at Bergdorf Goodman to mingle with the store team and top customers for a private event during his time in New York City. The legendary designer will be coming to the Big Apple next week to celebrate some milestone moments and to visit Bergdorf Goodman. Armani turned 90 this year, but is not standing still. In New York, he will celebrate the opening of his Madison Avenue mixed-use flagship, entirely redesigned with residential units, an Armani/Ristorante and the new Giorgio Armani and Armani/Casa boutiques. Coinciding with the unveiling, Armani has decided to parade his namesake brand’s spring 2025 collection in New York and not in Milan.
